It is technically not a world title but it is the most prestigious title. The recent rule changes and Floyd/Pac debacle may change that though.

Well I believe a fighter unifying all belts or at least 3 out 4 belts is the coolest and greatest/hardest things they can achieve. Fighters these days don't even want to defend their belts.

The Ring champ is the champ
They did manipulate it by firing great journalists like Nigel Collins and Joe Santoloquito and replacing them with hacks from shitty maxboxing b/c they're all from socal.

lol youre counting each and every abc belt?

fighting another guy with a belt shouldn't make it 2x world champion, it should just make it a unification, which either way is shitty anyway cuz either Floyd or Pac could have whooped Senchenko ass for a paper belt but no one wanted to see that fight. being undisputed/establishing linearity is where it counts

It's not, they lost all credibility when they scraped it and didn't even bother retracing the rightful holders when bringing it back.

I do like the rings rankings btw and follow them but the 'title' is something completely different.

The Ring belt had started to have meaning again since it was brought back by Nigel Collins who was the Editor at the time.

Now that the rules have been amended it is just as irrelevant as the alphabet belts

What's the purpose of a world title? To signify the holder is the best in that division in the world. I don't disagree with the holders of the Rings titles being the best in the division almost all the time, there's presently a guy who's the champion at flyweight who was probably in the right place at the right time and not the best flyweight, but the guy won it off the previous holder so I can't complain. The alphabets have some ridiculous guys as "world champion" because that's who they could get to stump up the fee that month so I take the Rings champs more seriously. They may not be perfect but they're the best we're going to get for ranking and awarding fighters.

for a a guy thats supposed to be hard , you sure do love to root for a guy that has done everything to avoid a fight with a former 112 pound champ.

No.
I have a hard time recognizing g the WBO, let alone something awarded by a magazine.

The Ring has it easy to be honest. They can just sit back and wait to see what happens, then make announcements. If they actually had to enforce mandatories or organize fights they'd be exactly like the other ABCs within 12 months at the most.

And who decides this? 15 years ago you'd have said only WBA, WBC, IBF counted & 30 years ago you'd have said only the WBA & WBC count.

I think pretty much anybody who is a boxing fan takes more stock in who is the ring champion, over any WB or IB version.

It's the only credible one..atleast up until recently. Now with GBP owning it and the change to their policy where the #2 can become champ by beating a #3, #4, or #5 it's soon to become another joke title the way of the WBC and WBA.
