Baer has very shitty defense and get frustrated when under pressure.
K.o in early rounds.

While I would favor Tyson, at his best, over all these guys, Louis beat these guys 1935-1948. So the question is, can you take the youngest version of Tyson who could beat Carnera and M. Baer, add 13 years to him, and still favor him over Walcott?

I think to beat Tyson, you'd need a pretty big guy with a very good skillset. Little guys get destroyed, as he proved. Simon and Carnera just don't have the skillset to be competitive.

People may think that Holyfield was not a pretty big guy and that's true for the era he fought in, but in that era he'd be considered a big guy, and he was also extremely durable and in fantastic condition.

I can't realistically see Tyson having any real problems with any of those listed.

I think I agree. I don't rate Louis nearly as highly as most, I see a massive gulf between the best modern (70s and onwards) heavies and old heavies. The footage I've seen of Louis' best wins surprised me. Those guys looked like nothing more than contenders if I'm honest.

That being said, Louis is deserving of his high ranking based on his longevity. Tyson didn't have that and rather than using that to glorify his prime like many do, for me it works against him. Could Tyson have pulled off the career Louis did? Probably not because he wasn't the professional Louis was

Tyson takes all of them. Baer would be a great fight while it lasted and Walcott would cause Mike the most problems before he gets annihilated.

And yet no one has bettered Louis' punching technique since.

They looked like contenders. So do most contenders funnily enough.

Tyson would stop:

Carnera
Buddy
Simon
Conn (would blitz him)
Maueriello
Galento (on his feet)
Godoy(would look like Mathis Jr match)
Nova(would like Ruddock fights)

More interesting:

Braddock
Old Schmeling

At worst, I could see them making their way to the final bell.

And I think Walcott has a good shot at Mike. As does Max Baer.

But I think the real point is no way Tyson could match Joe Louis' run. If he met these guys in succession like Louis, he would suffer some burn out and upsets.

Shot "Bad Boy" Braddock who had been retired for 2 years And weighted a flabby 197LBS who surely give Tinkerbell HELL in teh clinches with his hugs of death!!! IF Boneclincher @233LBS of muscle can spoil And win 1 Round with a gigantic haymaker, boy oh boy what would Braddock do with his clinches of cruelty???

And Midget Lisp would surely shit himself VS Max "Bum Boy" Baer (a really shitty version of Sammy "Caveman" Peter) where Mini Mike finds himself outslugged, outgunned, outlasted And Shot Schmeling @198lbs of scrawny softness would counter teh shit outta Tinfoil Tyson And knock him into Bolivion in 15 Rounds of PAIN.

BUT if Tinfoil thought Schmeling's counters hurt wait till he faces,,,,,,,,

G.G. Fugly Walcott, **** me would Tinkerbell run through teh ropes to escape a man who went pro @165LBS (a welter today) And is really a way way smaller (by 21LBS), slower And less powerful version of 1996 OG Holy, so probs TKO12 Prime Tinkerbell, eh???

The question is not whether they could have taken Tyson on his best day, but whether they could have taken him on his worst.

There are reasons why Louis won at the longevity game and Tyson didn't.

Are we alowing for the stage of Louis's career at which he fought these opponents?

Because if we are then Walcott at least should be strongly favoured.
