When Vito Antuofermo fought Hugo Corro for title, Cosell had Coro winning, although Antuofermo was kicking his ass. Hagler came on for aminute, and after he said he had Vito ahead, commercial came. After break, Coselll came on, and started saying he had Vito ahead !! Several reporters wrote in next days that Cosell started asking people at ringside who they had winning after Hagler told him his take. After everyone said Vito, Cosell came on and lied,. plaiin and simple. Actually changed his scorecard.

When Cosell was really into a fight,he could really add something to it - like he did with the already exciting slugfest that was Foreman-Lyle.But there were certain fights(particularly mismatches) where his commentary could get really,really irritating.


I recall him spending a great portion of the Shavers-Tillis fight droning on about Shaver's well-documented retina injury.And his comments in relation to Tillis just after the fight weren't exactly professional or necessary.

he had cleveland williams defeating george chuvalo as well on the same card as the ali mathis fight.thats how he wanted to see it i guess i don't mind him however.

it was like, to me, why in the hell was the holmes-cobb so reprehensible to him? The one-sidedness of it? Like he didn't feel the same "disgust" when srl or ali blew away overmatched opponents? I liked howie but he was quite the hypocrite headcase if you want to know the truth. His voice and commentary was the backdrop for sooooo many great fights that i've seen and i have mixed feelings about him. I wasn't a fan of his nuthugging of ali and leonard, but he did lend a lot to the coverage of the fights i saw in the past.
