If I'm wrong then explain why I'm wrong, I don't care about your experience or your perception of how hard guys hit that you've never felt.
I think Khan is a better puncher than either of those guys you mentioned, he has the levers and the lower body strength program now. If he commits to shots more instead of the in and out stick and move he grew up with he'll be knocking everybody over.
I wouldn't call Gatti a great puncher at all, he was average and he got knockouts because of his commitment to shots. So committed that he didn't give a shit about blocking punches with his face in order to land his.

Vince Shomo comes to mind, a pocket Joe Louis-- flattened everybody with tight left hooks on his way to four or five NY Golden Gloves titles. Turned pro with big fanfare. After a few lackluster bouts, he packed-it-in 'n became a ref...which I think he still is.

No, heavy hands are apparent from the contact they make, if they follow through with the blow. I'll use old George Foreman as an example. Tim Bradley will swing for the fences sometime, but doesn't do large amounts of damage.

Yes you can tell if a Shot got murderous power behind it by the form, speed and the follow through (leaning into the punch).

Some people just naturally heavy handed due to their natural instinct in knowing how to put their weight to their punch. I am told by my trainer all the time that i have a murderous punch for my size. I can hit as hard as most middleweights.

There's no real answer here. Have seen hundreds of guys who punched as compactly as Joe Louis, but couldn't break an egg.

Once again: Ya can either punch, or you can't...'n all the kings horses 'n all the king's men can't help.

Not necessarily, t. Watch Indian "Red" Lopez. His straights shots -- that he doesn't follow through on -- don't seem to have extra mustard, but when they landed, it wobbled their knees.
