I respect Ortiz but he sholdn't be going up to 154. Loads of big winnable fights at 147. Pac is smaller, as is Bradley, he has already beaten Berto, Alexander and Maidana would be moving up like him, Brook is an unknown etc
154 guys tend to be middleweights in disguise. Do many 140 fighters do well at 154? Pac yes, Cotto yes, Floyd yes but they are the best of a generation. I wonder how many contenders/titlists from 140 could cut it at 154? I find 140 tend to be smaller guys like Pryor, Hatton, Tszyu etc They should mix it up with 135 and at best 147. Generally speaking as Ortiz might do great but Canelo is a stocky dude who everyone discusses middleweight and fights vs Chavez rather than smaller guys. At least Ortiz and Canelo should come to fight. Not sure about ORtizs mental state if he finds himself in with a bigger, stronger, more powerful fighter. He must remember speed kills. |

I think Canelos patience will hinder him here if Ortiz fights intelligently. Good fight better than the Williams fight IMO

Good fight. Ortiz can bang and I think he will test Canelo's chin but will prove too strong for Ortiz.
Canelo should be forced to fight Lara after this it will have been well over a year since his last mandatory. Look at Golden Boy to make a unification fight to avoid this a la Garcia/Khan/Olusegun. The Bundrage/Spinks winner being the best bet. |
