A Loss is a Loss,

The 1972 United States National Amateurs (Featherweight Division)

A VERY BIG TOURNAMENT.

And 'Little Ricky' Boudreaux (from New Orleans) also beat him at 125 lbs.

Jerome Artis was 19,,,,,,,,

What was he supposed to do,,,,,,,,

'Oh, I can't beat up this kid, because he is only 16.

Jerome Artis didn't ask Ray Leonard to compete in the 1972 National AAU
Tournament.

Ray Leonard entered the tournament on his own.

Jerome Artis was the Best 125 lb. U.S. Amateur in 1972.

That's all.

It was retaliation for Duran's taunts late in the 15th round of the first fight, and was taken as such.

If the opponent doesn't like it, he's welcome to do something about it.

Ray was breaking Duran mentally and physically. That is the first time he really looked great. He learned how to put it all together inside and outside of the ring.

Leonard was great no doubt about it.
As a young man watching his whole ring life on television I absolutely love his skills, fighting spirit and showmanship. It was his taunting of and defeat of the foe that was the icing on the cake.
Duran did it the first fight, he brought it upon himself in the second fight.

Get'em Sugah!

I think Ray Leonard also invented the 'Windup Punch'

That is what he told Howard Cosell, who said, 'How did you come up with that'.

Ray Leonard, 'I invented it'

Only to be informed, that Kid Gavilan had called it the 'Bolo Punch'

I thought it was in bad taste, I cannot stand when Boxer's do this, with the exception of Ali, I did enjoy his flurry and shuffle. The only bolp punch I liked was Kid Gavillans.

Ray Leonard even tried to create a foot shuffle, that he called the
'The Sugar Shuffle',,,,

Another rip-off, that Baltimore boxer Johnny Gant called 'a third rate dance' and 'another stolen act by a phoney'.
