I wouldn't take the attitude that this will be a stinker. TOS and Grano may provide some suspense: both guys can crack with their rights, and each guy has durability issues. This one could be explosive, kind of like TOS's fight with Derrick Jefferson years ago.

Overall, TOS is the superior technician, the more experienced guy, and seemingly the better of the pair. TOS is taller also. But there's a major disparity in age here; TOS is well past 40 years old. TOS's mind will see the openings and know the right punches to throw, but will his aging body be reflexive enough, and sufficiently fast and supple, to obey what the brain tells it to do? That's the dilemma of the aging fighter.

Nature may take it's course here and favor Grano, the younger guy. But my guess is that TOS will pull this one out of the hat, probably by stoppage within one to six rounds.

If not for Grano's history of being stopped in past fights, I would go with him. But I just don't have faith in Grano's chin.

So are you buying the Don King PPV instead of watching the Showtime card, ken?

If there was absolutely nothing else going on in the boxing world tonight, I might consider checking this out for the potential fireworks there may be (as you say) but it simply isn't near enough to rival the GBP card for me.

Omar Henry and Joey Hernandez in the chief supporting bouts? Eh...not the deepest card. Now, if the Spinks vs. K9 rematch was on it...

Not that my views count for much (I blew all my vcash!), but I'm putting $75 on the under. I've explained my reasoning above.

Sometimes, fights like this go long because each dude is aware of his vulnerability, and both fight cautiously, with their devastating rights ****ed and ready to throw. We saw that kind of fight between Vlad and Haye last year: two bombers who could cold**** each other with a single right, with both, consequently, playing it safe for the full route.

But I don't think TOS and Grano can play it safe against each other. One of the pair is certain to drop his guard sooner or later. Bombs away.

I won't be buying the DKP PPV, unfortunately. But I wouldn't mind seeing TOS vs Grano for the reasons you mention. A second factor that makes this bout intriguing -- to heavyweight fans, at least -- is that the winner is being groomed for a world rating.

Not that the winner will be a legitimate contender...no way. But the winner's name will be advanced in the alphabet top-15. This is fascinating because, 1) King will then push for a big fight for the winner, or 2) the winner will be used as a pawn (opponent) for an up-and-coming tiger.

I like to watch the way King advances fighters like pawns on a chessboard.

the over under is a bit hard to say at 7 rounds. i would expect a ko to happen around that time...so tough call. but the under sounds more logical. 2 punchers with dodgy whiskers. with williamson slightly off conditioning and grano expereinced at the later rounds
