Is this your excuse for quitting like a bitch? Did you spew because you got hit in the tumtum in Cessnock as well or were the 2 min rounds just too much for ya?

And no, you haven't seen the fight. That much is obvious.

One thing normal people (as opposed to people with a mental illness) understand is that punters do not perform as boxers at charity boxing days. They perform as punters boxing for charity.

One has to wonder why the person who started this thread has gone to such lengths to embarrass me.

Normal people understand the reaction. Its the reaction of a spinner when confronted with the truth.

If he is not happy with the content of this thread, he should ask the moderators to delete it...like he did with the "MMA" thread.

I'll upload the fight and we'll let people decide if a boxer who entered the ring stoned, then quit on his feet after a body shot is qualified to discuss anything with anyone.

The video would be a good laught but I don't think there'll be any surprises there.

i was sparring a 14yo kid. i think i was about 22. he hit me in the solar plexis with a beautiful left rip. it winded me made me turn away for a second or two.

little cunt got me. we had a laugh about it.

in a fight i got hit in the liver by a huge left rip. id been on the booze a few weeks before, and when hit, i thought to myself "if there was anything wrong with my liver, id know about it right now'. anyway, i give the cunt one back. it hurt him also. i should have followed it up. got the fight of the night...

another time, i was playing footy, i got hit from the side, right on the liver by ol mates shoulder. it jarred the shit out of me. his mate come in second and had to brace against the impact. solid shots, i got up slow, trying to pretend it didnt hurt....

liver shots are a ko blow. it doesnt even need great power. timing and placement are also critical, as the 14yo proved.

i did the same to a heavy i was sparring with. a big coppa. i hit him with a perfect left rip. i didnt even try to hit hard. it was just one of those well timed, reactive punches that you throw. it stopped him for a second or two in the corner.

after the spar, he asked me to pound at his body as hard as i could. i did. but i couldnt repeat the neat left rip that shook him.

getting stopped by a left rip is nothing to be ashamed of.

Especially with his guy up with only 26 seconds left. You're not getting brain damage from a body punch ffs.
The trainer is not time keeper. He knows his fighter. Callun is very willing to take punishment for a chance to land. The trainer is acting with great care when deciding to throw in a towel and stop the fight. Good on John. Body shots can be devestating for sure. They can sap strength over the fight journey, or leave a fighters strength sapped in an instant. 26 second is enough time to more than hurt a fighter in that situation. Several telling blows could have done irreparable damage. Take a look at Emile Griffith vs Benny Paret II. Callun will return soon enough, with all brain matter intact. Well done John. "You're not getting brain damage from a body punch ffs" Stupid comment.

I have had 50 ammature bouts in my time and i know that if your in a boxing fight u can get body shotted by your opponent as much as he/she delivers but if you dont go down you are required to keep battleing on till the very end , , head shots are different tho

i only had 21 am bouts, never dropped and no standing 8 counts. the punch that i remember most was that body shot. you just got to pretend it doesnt hurt.

Word sally! My coach would always say break the body and the head will follow. I hated taking body shots, especially to the solar plexus

I agree with Stiffy et al about the debilitating effects of a decent bodyshot. The first time I copped a decent one I ended up bent over not able to breath or speak, as though frozen in time. My trainer thought I had copped one in the nuts. Over time you learn how to cop 'em and mask their effects.

Ty's had his fair share of bodyshots if his experiences at the VABA and Thailand are anything to go by, so it's somewhat perplexing as to his reason for starting this thread and making the subsequent comments.

Ty, do us all a favour and upload Callum's fight (which you claim to have access to) and the fight you had at the VABA where you quit after a bodyshot. Let us be the judges.

****, theres alot of people here who have claimed to have fights! haha! 50 here and 21 there. If any of you's has in the last 15 to 20 years im sure that you would have some footage of your own that you would be able to throw up just to prove how tough you were. If not shut the **** up.
