Tommy Morrison suffered a broken jaw and apparently also broke his hand in his win over Joe Hipp.

It should be noted that not all jaw breaks are the same. My brother broke his a while ago but it was a hairline fracture which took about a week or two to heal. Some are severe and a doctor would stop the fight if they were aware of the injury.

The fight with AA and Miranda should have been stopped, without any question. It was a disgrace that it was allowed to go on. There was no way Miranda was going to be allowed to win on that night. Fights are routinely stopped because a guy has a bad cut, even if it isn't affecting his vision or any nerves, and yet that was allowed to go on? Disgraceful.

If Ortiz has a bad jaw break, I have no issue with him pulling out.

Great example of a recent fight where guy was not only facing a p4p level boxer, but in his backyard, and broke his jaw early in that fight. Paulie pushed thru it and finished the fight, even though Cotto was landing on that jaw throughout.

Ortiz is over rated, period. Talented but lacks the heart and mental toughness at the highest level.

Sonny Liston got his jaw broken when his mouth was open against Marshall

Not many would go on. The pain has to be excruciating.

About to say this as well but you said it first. Each case can be different.

His mouth didn't look like it could be closed and he was bleeding badly. I've seen fights stopped because a person is cut within his mouth. Add that to a broken jaw, it could have been stopped.
