Default Which was a worse quit job: Ortiz vs Lopez or Vitali vs Byrd

In your honest opinion, who was better equipped to carry on in their fight? Ortix with his broken jaw or Vitali with his shoulder?

Both quit in the 9th round while ahead on the scorecards. Ortiz suffered a broken jaw, against an opponent who was having no trouble landing on him. Vitali a shoulder injury against a fighter he was beating comfortably, whom he had a large height and reach advantage over.

I'm just gonna answer for the Klit fans and be done with it.

"Vitali's career would have been over if he continued and permanently damaged his shoulder!!"

Ahh crap. Accidentally selected Ortiz.

I’m not a critic of either, but if I was, I would find Vitali’s quit less tolerable. I think it’s easier to survive by not punching with your hurt shoulder, than it is to keep your broken jaw out of harm’s way against a fighter who’s already beating you.

That’s without knowing the extent of either guy’s injury, though. But I personally think a broken jaw is far more dangerous.

Glass hearted, steroid cheat Vitali's shameful quitjob was far, far worse & remains one of the most disgusting things I have ever seen in a ring

After starting well he was being walked down & outlanded by a blown-up, feather-fisted super-middleweight with a massive height/weight disadvantage

Vitali was using both arms all the way through the fight but decided "it hurts too much"

Despicable & shameful quit-job which has rightly left a stain on his awful resume

And it baffles me to see Vitali fans -- who've defended him for his quit-job to no ends -- jump on Ortiz for the same reasons.

Yeah I think Vitali made a wise choice, not a great choice for the fans watching but if you don't think about your own future you are an idiot. He was winning the fight so it's not really a quit job in my eyes but common sense.

I think Ortiz should have given it another round but I don't blame him for not wanting to get his already broken jaw punched about. Still, we have seen Ortiz quit before without injury, if it was not for that I don't think anyone would be even making an issue of it.

So Ortiz if I had to pick one.

Hey, I don't blame anyone in the ring who suffers and injury and decides it's not worth going on with the fight. It's their career, health and life and they have to make the best decision for themselves.

However, both fighters receive a lot of criticism (and defence) because of these two RTD 9s, and we have seen other fighters go on with broken jaws and shoulder injuries - so I want to know which one people feel would be the biggest impairment in the respective fights.

Surely Mayorga quitting because his thumb was sore is the biggest quit job ever?
(granted he was getting his ass beat)

Vitali was worse but you can actually go into survive mode with an injured shoulder. With a broken jaw is very tough and if you severed the nerves than you may lose your ability to tase food.
