Default Best fighters at dealing with 'running' outboxers?

Guys who box off the back foot, not trying to win by stoppage, running, jabbing, being elusive, trying to outpoint you.

Which fighters proved to be best at dealing with this evasive, silky style of opponent?

Have there been swarmers that you think proved particularly adept at hunting these guys down and imposing their styles on them?

If you have an answer to this, please provide example fights where this occurred.

Frazier, Norton and Tyson.

Tyson by virtue of his quick feet and working off the jab of his opponent. Frazier by working his way in methodically and punching with the boxers. Norton was taugh finely by Futch on how to deal with boxers, and it showed against both Ali and Holmes.

Well, Jose Torres dealt very well with Willie Pastrano..though Willie was pretty much shot. The version of Pastrano who beat Harold Johnson may have been a different kettle of fish.

Frazier: Ali, Ellis, Machen

Good shout on Torres. When he lost he was overpowered not outboxed.

Hearns was pretty much impossible to outbox. Benitez and Leonard spring to mind, Leonard turning stalker to win.

Any specific examples from the careers of Tyson and Frazier that you like especially?

The Hearns suggestion is interesting. I suppose his way of dealing with outboxers was simply to use his physical advantages to beat them at their own game eh?

I can imagine that running was not an option against the likes of Henry Armstrong.

Sandy Saddler did not beat every runner that he fought but he did beat every runner he fought when the referee allowed him to fight "his fight".

Henry Armschlong
Jung-Koo Chang
early reign Wilfredo Gomez
Jose Napoles
third leg Kalule
Raul Jibaro Perez...though he roboticised after a few fights as a champ and was eventually beaten by stick and mover Flea Richardson.
