Default Fights where an older fighter dominates a young fighter?

I'm out of shape . Working on getting it back, but meanwhile sparring is kind of ugly. I can out-skill/overpower my partners, but only for short stretches, and then I need a major breather. I'm using less of a pressure style, no bouncing, just stalking and counterpunching.

So to get me through this stage, I'm looking for fights where a guy doesn't waste anything and uses his skills and ring intelligence to keep a more active fighter at bay. Hopkins-Pavlik comes to mind, and Hopkins is actually the guy I'm most trying to emulate now, but there's got to be some others. Throw them in this thread and we can all learn something.

Or just throw me some ideas that work for this sort of situation.

Not a fighter you should try to emulate but Michael Gomez springs to mind when he defeated Alex Arthur...

The obvious guy is Archie Moore. His style, in his later years, sounds a lot like what you are describing.
If they think you are afraid of them it is easier to walk them into punches. And uncertain guys are almost as easy to walk into punches as brave guys.

Watch James Toney later in his cruiserweight/heavyweight years. He is a master of minimal defensive movement (opposite of bouncing around). He's like a matador, the punches just slip by and he's still in the pocket, in good position to counter. He was notorious for having a poor (or non-existant) training regimen, yet he was so strong and so effective even in the later rounds.
The steroids probably helped him though - maybe not a perfect example. But he is an excellent example of being evasive and slick with minimal movement.

Great fight. Gomez was WAY too active compared to me though

Hopkins-Pascal I is a good one, and Hopkins Pascal II is a masterpiece.

Duuude...Joe Louis.

Seriously, guy uses like no energy. Follow them, when they get too close, savagely rip into them and then go back to stalking. This could work....

Anything from the recent years with Hopkins Man's a wizard, whether or not you like his dirty fighting antics.
