Great interview.
Was with someone who's met Eddie for a business venture and said he's a nice bloke and he always comes across well. Seems like there's underlying issues with Brook. |

Great interview. So refreshing to see someone talking candidly about their fighters and not just selling hype. People can say excuses if they want, but the point is that excuses would really have been saying sickness or a little injury they didn't mention.
He simply said that Brook did not do enough and that preparation was not right. He was also honest about the likes of Aston and generally just comes across very well. |

The rapid decline in Brook's stamina was pretty worrying. People will look at the fight, say Brook is a hypejob or whatever, but that's not something I go along with. He dominated the first 4 or 5 rounds of the fight and Jones only had real success after Brook had faded, so he needs to improve his conditioning for future fights. You simply can't slow down after so few rounds and be an elite fighter. It's impossible. The fighters at an elite level aren't there to be blown away and as they get into the late rounds, they'll amp up the pressure. Even someone like Soto Karass, who beat Jones, would bother Brook purely on his stamina and resilience alone.
Even though it was an incredibly tough fight, I don't think we saw a lot of weaknesses in Brook. The only issue I really saw was his stamina. I'm not saying he's flawless apart from that but it was the only thing which let him down. I think Hearn was right about this possibly being a positive thing though. Being in a tough fight isn't all bad. Look at Mayweather when he fought Castillo - He lost that fight and yet it was a great thing for him. On a more extreme level, Khan losing to Prescott is another loss which helped in the long run. What Brook needs to do is be analytical about this fight, look towards the future and make sure that he doesn't make sure they happen again. I'm still very optimistic about Brook. I just hope he'll get the right guidance to make sure he can fulfill his potential - With Hearn in his corner, I'm sure he'll get that necessary guidance. |

what i took from that was brook struggling to make weight, which if true might explain the stamina issue he had.
but as been said before eddie hearn is def a breath of fresh air to boxing |

How does Hearn know preparation wasn't right & he didn't do weight properly? I liked most of what he said but he isn't in training camp with Brook. I'll wait to see what his trainer Ingle says about his weight. If he truly is struggling with the weight why is he sticking around WW, surely he should move up?

Erm....Ndou hardly landed a punch whereas everytime Jones got inside he was digging kell with hooks to the body. That slows a fighter down as well. It was the body shots that slowed him. Just excuses about weight. If he's struggling with the weight why not move up?
