Looks like a fantastic week in boxing coming up. Especially in the welter weight division. Obviously the Williams v Marg fight has been highly discussed, but what are your thoughts on the rest. Do you think Gatti is completely shot and will get beaten by a second rate "contender" like Gomez? In the battle of the bangers Cintron vs Mathyysse, who do you believe will deliver the anticipated KO? Will Roy Jones still have enough left in the tank to dispose of a young and hungry prospect? Can Luan Krasniqi return as a top contender in the heavyweight division?

World title fights & important matchups all over the joint. I think Gatti will have too much for Gomez & move onto an intriguing matchup with Julio Cesar Chavez Jnr. Matthysse is a banger, but have not seen enough of him. So i lean to Cintron. Who knows with Roy Jones, i hope he has something left as he was 1 of my favourite boxers a few years back. Krasniqi should have enough for Tony Thompson in Germany. Never easy travelling there. That leaves the match of the round, Margarito & Williams. I have already backed Margarito & i will stick by that. But its a just about a Pick'em fight IMO. 1 guy that i expect to win impressively is Steve Molitor in Canada. Very good technical boxer IMO. Keep an eye on him.

Another pretty tough week tbh.
Im relatively sure that Cintron will bang out Mathyysse and that Krasniqi is done. The other 2 are really hard to call for me. I fucking love Gatti, and my head says that hes finished, but the guy has such heart and hes going to be the last person in the world that believes hes finished. Hes been really confident about his camp, and seems to genuinely believe hes still got enough left in the tank for a title. I really hope he does too RJJ is a problematic one. Hes RJJ, but hes just looked so shit of late. Hanshaws a solid prospect, but Im just hoping that Jones uses his experience and is prepared to admit that his speed is gone and will need to use a more orthodox fighting style to take this fight. |

Gatti should get his win. Though we all know he's not on the level of the elite in the division and doesn't even really have much shot after whipping the journeymen etc.
I too couldn't comment on Matthysse. Will try and do some catching up this week on that match up. If Kras doesn't have enough for Thompson then it is clear he should stay away. Would he come back to a solid challenge though? I think he is pretty confident of the win... Jones Jones Jones... what can you say. I personally think he won't offer any more than he did in his last few fights. I hope that I am very wrong and we see a little flash of the old Jones from a few years ago. That'd be a wonderful thing for boxing. But alas, I think it's highly unlikely... I am REALLY excited for Marg/Williams. Could go either way and I'll certainly be on the band wagon of the winner to go all the way. I'm leaning towards Williams this week. Last week it was Marg... will review and pick for the comp... Guys, I was also gonna make a thread for those of you in Sydney but here will do - I went to the Sports Inn at Alexandria on Sunday for the Vic fight and it's an awesome little venue. I asked the bloke there and he said they try to get as many of the fights as they can. The more numbers they get, the more fights they'll get. So don't be afraid and head down there. I'm pretty sure they're showing atleast one of the cards on the W/E. |

i thought last week was tough well this week is murder.
man i changed my mind alot in all the fights. in case of Margarito vs Williams. Marga has been good lately and so has Williams. but i leaned towards Williams because Margo's last loss against Santos he was a Southpaw just like Williams is. well i reckon i changed Jones UD to Hanshaw TKO about 5 times each and finally decided to hope Jones has one more day in the sun. Cintron and Gatti were easy picks but Thompson vs Krasniqi well its in Germany but Thompson had a great win over Ibragimov so i think Tony's going to get the KO he will need to win in Gemany why because also Krisnaqi was average against Brewster and i think the same fate will happen to Krasniqi in this fight as the Brewster fight. |
