Default GOAT - Fedor vs Anderson

Can someone post up an extensive list of both these guys accomplishments

Someone posted Fedors the other day - his awards, medal placings in all competitions etc

Can someone who can find it please post up the same for Anderson, so we can all get a good look at who really is the GOAT

I think I still edge with Fedor, now that my post-fight euphoria has worn off a bit. Decisive wins over the #2 and #3 heavyweights ever, beating them at their own games. I still have him slightly higher because of this. Other than Dan Henderson, Anderson has never beat a great like Nog or Crocop. Sonnen, Franklin, Belfort, Marquardt etc, are very good fighters, but they're not on that level IMO.

Still, if Anderson wrecks some more top guys like Henderson again, Rashad and GSP before he rides off into the sunset, he could maybe bridge the gap. Maybe.

We dont reallly thats true

But someone posted a gigantic list of Fedors accomplishments, and that simmply couldnt be argued with. No ones done the same for Silva. Would be extremey interesting to see the two's accomplishments head to head, if possiblemont

Ive lost track of how old Hendo is
Rashad has never been, and will never be on the level youre talking about
GSP? A welterweight?

You know as well as i do Popkin. There's ONE fight out there that can prove Exactly how good Anderson is, and he absolutely baulks at the thought of it

You may have lost track of how old Hendo is, but I bet Shogun and Fedor haven't. Dan is still beating top opposition, that matters a hell of a lot more than his age.

Rashad isn't an ATG, but I still think Anderson kicking the shit out of him would be a good, solid victory.

GSP is an ATG, he dominates big, top-class welterweights with ease. For me, a decisive Silva win over him at 185 would be a meaningful win, much like GSP's wins over Penn are.

Silva vs Jon Jones wouldn't prove exactly how good Silva is at all. Jones is an enormous lightheavyweight wrestler who is looking to fight at heavyweight shortly. Putting a 38 year old middleweight in with him is not some legit career-definer, Silva's already proven himself and is just putting the icing on the cake now.

Stylistically, GSP vs Silva is interesting. GSP is easily as good a wrestler as Sonnen if not better, and every other facet of his game is better (eg: sub defence). So, a Sonnen vs Silva type battle is not inconceivable.

Stylistically, Jones vs Silva is not interesting. After getting outfought on the feet by Machida, Jones knows he is not a striker at the same level as the best Brazilians. He wouldn't take the risk of standing with AS, Bones would just take him down at will. Game over. Too predictable fight to be worthwhile.

And Fedor's accomplishments doesnt include anything like fight of the night, knockouts of the night, or sumission of the night since Pride never had them. All Fedor got from a good fight or a good sumbission was wild applause from the audience. This is why i always point out being battle worn, age isnt the only factor. Hederson and Anderson hasnt fought nearly as much as Fedor.

Maybe if Anderson had did something at LHW, a much tougher division than MW, then he could argue his case... he cleaned out the MW division years ago & can easily fight at 205 as proven by his 2 fights there, both first round knockouts... but he`s content to hang around the 185 division til the end of his career it seems.

Fedor beating a prime Nogueira twice in clear fashion is so much better than anything Silva has ever done.

Fedor routinely fought guys with 60 + pounds on him. Anderson NEVER fights anyone bigger than him

You dont take risks, you have no business being talked about as number 1

I agree that Fedor is greater than Anderson, but that reasoning is dogshit.

My reasoning is the same as Bill Butcher's - Fedor is greater because his best wins (Nog & Crocop) are significantly better than Anderson's.

Your reasoning is awful. Fedor routinely fought guys much bigger than him because that's the way that division operates for small heavyweights. Anderson Silva can't fight guys 60+ pounds heavier than him because his division doesn't operate that way. Simple.

Is David Haye a greater fighter than Marvin Hagler and Carlos Monzon because Haye fought much bigger guys than himself at heavyweight, whereas Hagler and Monzon merely cleaned out one of the traditional weight classes of boxing? Crappy logic doesn't work Beouche.

And FYI, the guys that Fedor 'routinely' fought who were 60+ pounds heavier than him were mostly rubbish anyway. Fedor's wins over Hong Man Choi and Brett Rogers are nowhere near as meaningful as many of Anderson's wins against guys the same size as him...

...It is the quality of the opponent that's important, not the weight.

As ever, I ask the question - what is it about Anderson that makes people think he is really a lightheavyweight who is hiding out at middleweight, is it the fact that he still makes 185lbs with ease even at the age of 38, or is it the fact that he used to fight at world-level at 168lbs???

That ****ing Anderson Silva, spending his career picking on middleweight midgets like Dan Henderson (world champ at 205), Forrest Griffin (world champ at 205), Chael Sonnen (used to fight at 205), Vitor Belfort (world champ at 205 and former hw), and Rich Franklin (has had many fights 190/195/205)...
