Rumor has it they are in talks with Golovkins camp.
That would be short call for Proksa. Also article states that an issue is the hand injury sustained in his fight with Hope, and whether or not it would heal in time. Golovkin is a great technical fighter, and would be the most heavy-handed guy Proksa has faced to date. Personally I don't think a tough opponent like this is a good fight for Proksa to take on short notice, especially if he has a healing injury. This is the type of fight preparations and care are needed for. The fight date is August 25th, that's not even a month and a half from now. Proska should be fit already or atleast by fight night since he has fought recently. Not really sure who wins though as I don't know much about Golovkin apart from what I have read on this site, but it seems like it would be a hard fight for Proska.

just seen the news on fb. as much as i like proksa, its baffling as to why he'd take this fight now, if hes indeed injured.
im all for the carl froch type fighters of the world of boxing, but to fight golovkin with a month and a half left, is just reckless. hard to see proksa beating golovkin, to be fair... |

I guess Pirog pulled out of the fight.
I also think it to be a tad bit reckless, and also goes further to show his promoters really don't care much for Proksa. Because if they did they would take better care of him then to see a chance for some money, and throw him into a fight like this without proper preparations. |

Make it or break it fight of Super G... Finally
Win or Lose, this will be an entertaining fight. Finally someone stepped up to fight Golovkin 2 overrated prospects, Proksa was just exposed, Golovkin is unproven Should be entertaining

I thought Proksa's team decided against this fight. Too much of a step up on too short of notice. The Hope loss was a big setback, a KO loss would just start his whole career over. He's better off going after Barker, Murray, Macklin, or McKewan.

If this fight happens on August then I pick Golovkin to win. SUPER G prove me wrong if this fight happens (which I hope will not happen because I dont want excuses from Proksa after, I want see him 100% whicht I doubt he will be in August). Proksa needs to rest. As he said he's tired and wants some vacation. BTW according to boxing.pl Golovkin's fight gonna be on 1 September in NYC. I'd like to see this fight in December (so Proksa could heal his injuries and rest emotionally and physically after Hope). But honestly I'd prefer Proksa vs Barker fight (but not in UK!). NYC would be fine.

Dumb comparison. The gulf between Vitali and Adamek - a natural super heavyweight and a natural cruiser at best - is nowhere near Golovkin and Proksa. Proksa can match up with any MW fighter skill wise even if he is a little undersized, just like Adamek could at CW without the ridiculous physical disadvantages at HW. Proksa still has much to prove especially on the defensive end and this fight would be a great way to do it. I'm all for this. For many reasons, it's better then the Barker fight. Barker has too many £'s backing him and the odds would be stacked against a decision going in Proksa's favour in the UK.

Proksa and Vanes Martirosyan are the two guys fighters who seem to be in serious talks to step in. With Golovkin opponents its usually nothing more than that though, talk. I hope they find someone.

As far as this fight goes Proksa should NOT just jump right in on such short notice. He was consumed by the Hope rematch and needs to come down from that rest and refocus. Golovkin is not to be taken lightly. Last edited by PolishPummler; 07-15-2012 at 03:06 PM. |
