Default Amir Khan's achievements when compared to other British fighters ...

How many British fighters have compiled a better record then Amir Khan over the past decade? For the sake of the thread you can list any fighter active from the year 2000 onwards, (yes I know that's longer then a decade).

The reason I ask is because i've just been loitering on boxrec where several people are questioning his record, asking 'who has he beaten'?

I personally have two inactive and two active fighters above him (Calzaghe, Hatton, Haye and Froch).

Would anyone like to argue a case for the likes of Woods, Witter, Harrison or Nelson?

Edit: I should clarify that of those active fighters only their wins since the turn of the century should be considered.

You could argue Hamed if you're counting those still active after 2000.

Apart from him and the 4 you mentioned, Khan has achieved more than any other British fighter since.

Lewis and Calzaghe are so far the British fighters of the 21st Century. Maybe in due course Messrs Froch and Amir, will be able to debate with their hopefully future peers over this comment.

Yup. He'll have a very up and down career. Some real good nights, but some bad. For someone who was never going to win a world title, he has done excellent so far.

"We may have seen the death of a career...."

He gets flack too easily, I guess being matched soft early (more to do with a certain promoter) and being destroyed on his undeserved box office debut didn't help though.

Anyone who argues with his acheivmants DKSAB, IMO. He has won genuine world titles. He could have done the old WARR3N trick, capture the WBO and sit on that for a decade milking the cow for all its worth. He has massive ambition, wanting to unify a division and step up and do the same at 147. To some people that comes across as being big headed and egostistical, but I think it should be applauded.

All he has to do is sign the Saj divorce papers, delete his Twitter acount and learn to fight to hsi advantages. Young Ali had unparalleled speed of foot and hand a good chin and brilliant stamina, so he fought on the back foot dancing, moving and countering then going for the knock out late. Older Ali lost some speed, so he defended well soaking the opponants stamina to then open up later. He fought to his strengths Khan needs to do the same.

Forget the entertainment value, fight to win!!!!

Kotelnik, a shot Judah & a very close fight with Maidana

Khan is entertaining but his record, considering his backing & his hype is a terrible letdown

He isnt improving & every fight is like a speeding motorcyle, you can appreciate the speed but are only watching because of the inevitable crash

Top post.

It's all about fighting for that W like the Floyd early days when his fights were boring as hell yet all he wanted was that W.

Khan don't have to be that boring but you get my point, Khan needs to fight safe and everything behind his long jab.

Rapid piston like jab, improve his footwork although it can be good he tends to go flat footed once he gets tired. Learn his angles going in and out to decrease his chance of getting clocked. Learn to roll with the punches. These things he can still learn, hes young and the spotlight has been on him since his silver in the olympics. Funny how he came back from the olympics a hero and in no time he was almost a national hate figure. Shame but happens a lot in this country.

We live in a country where TOWIE people can be called 'icons'. We have people who are winners and not get recognition.

Look at Khan when he beat Judah to be a multi belt holder ten years younger than Calzaghe and got no press.

Yet he gets stopped by a good champion in Garcia and tabloid sports writers who know shit about boxing lecturing about it in huge double page spreads.
