Default How to get the British title outright?

First of all, I know that you have to defend the title 3x (successfully ofc), but what happens when you defend the title 2x (successfully), but on the 3rd defense you fail to win, do you then have to defend the title another 3 more times? (after you win the title back ofc), or do you just have to defend the title the remaining 1 more time? if you get what I mean.

I think non-consecutive defences count towards getting the title outright, as long as it's in the same division.

they don't have to be consecutive defenses.

It doesnt have to be a defense, just a win. John thaxton would have won the belt outright if hed have beaten john murray. Thats what they said on tv anyway. Cause it would have been his 4th win of the belt.

One win and 3 defenses is the same as 4 wins of the same belt. i think thats what they mean.

You may give up the belt or lose it and then regain it later in your career so it
doesnt have to be consectutive. Just 4 wins!!

This is my understanding of it anyway.

Ps: in my eyes the lonsdale belt is not only the best looking belt in the sport but for a brit it is the most prestigious.
