Default Julio Cesar Chavez vs. Hector Camacho (pre-Rosario)

Would a prime Hector Camacho, pre-Rosario, pose a much more stylistic problem for Chavez? Or does Chavez just have the right style to deal with the Macho man? I'm really curious to know how that would have turned out had the more agressive, speedy Camacho showed up against Chavez.

Would be more competitive no doubt.

But after Chavez begins timing him, and tagging him to the body, you better believe Camacho will begin to run like in their '92 fight, with Chavez relentlessly cutting him off.

I see Chavez always being too physical and hard punching for even a prime Camacho.

It would play out similarly to their real fight with a little less daylight between them on the judges' cards.

Something like 116-112 for Chavez, with Camacho taking the early rounds.

Was he not in his prime against Rosario? I always thought Rosario edged that, and he did a pretty solid job of cutting the ring off against Camacho, too.

^ Macho was dead in his prime against Rosario.

Personally, i had their bout EVEN, but i won't argue with anyone picking either guy.

What an underrated classic that fight was.

This bout would be closer than the 1992 bout, but I still see Chavez winning, this time by close decision.

I think prime Camacho would run circles around JCC, as lightening speed factors heavily into this one.

Camacho would beat Chavez, no argument, he was more aggressive in his prime.

I look at it this way: Hector headed both the 130 & 135 pound divisions with Chavez always in the rea view mirror. he just didnt want to catch up. Every fighter from the US Chavez met was on the way out. u name them and that includes Camacho. Never were they on the way up but on the way down which is why they didnt meet until 1992. A 1992 meeting between Camacho & Chavez is like a 1987 meeting between Hagler & Leonard

Drugs did in Camacho not Chavez, never Chavez. I'm just telling the truth. Chavez has the better style. Camacho was boring but Hector was just too smart & too talented & elusive for him. He would frustrate him all the way

Chavez cant handle a good southpaw, we all saw it in the Whitaker bout. I didnt even think Chavez could handle Pernell becuz the last time I watched him against a top flight fighter from the US (Taylor) he nearly had his ass handed to him and only escaped becuz of Richard the animal Steele. He even punched him in the nuts right in front of the President of Mexico who was sitting in the front row

Too many people here at ESB were fooled by the Chavez fight in 92. It's Hector that would do the dictating, not Chavez and like I said, the only reason they hadnt met mid 80s is becuz Chavez steered clear of the much more reputable Camacho.

ESBers talking out of their asses and even try to make the Camacho Rosario fight a toss up when in reality Hector won it 9-3 in rounds. He did catch him good and won three rounds big but couldnt make up the deficit from the earlier rounds. Chavez is not nearly the puncher Rosario was so he wouldnt get lucky punch in to turn change the momentum. He would only get outboxed becuz as we all know, Hector was the better boxer

Chavez beats him clearly yet again. Chavez had better head movement and pressed a bit harder on his attack at lightweight IMO. He would slip Camacho's limpy jab to get inside and do damage. Camacho depended on his legs for defense, not really good at slipping and rolling punches, if he couldnt get out of the way he would simply go into a shell which isnt a good idea against the likes of Chavez. If anything he would be more willing to let go his combinations but Chavez's attack would eventually wear him down and cause him to go further into his shell.
