Huck vs Potvetkin. Almost no build up......but a FOTY candidate.

Yeah.....I like boxing. In the ring. A fighters personality out of it usually only makes me dislike a guy.

If anyone liked the Haye vs DelBOY buildup more than the fight itself.....well, your'e a ****ing fag, go watch your soapies.

I said it before if K2 where exciting in or out of the ring they would be bigger than Mike Tyson . . . **** if they Vitali played up the Ivan Drago persona or Wlad did Borat . . . it would make the fights more interesting to casual fans. yeah, its nice that they do a lot of charity (but most boxers making a shit load of money tend to do that). But when they are fight no hopers like Mormeck and Ademeck (who is my fav Hw right now) . . . give people a reason to tune in. I do not get why "fans" have a problem with fights being exciting in and outside the ring.

According to them Haye vs Valuev counts as a success.

Fight was boring as hell and Haye was gifted the decision by Con King but the build up was a success.

i dont think the two options have to be mutually exclusive

a build up can be exciting without trash talk...but, i enjoy the verbal exchanges as well

a fighter can be an engaging personality while also being respectful imo

A fight that no one watch outside of Eastern Europe or from these boards. I like Huck but i did not watch the fight live because it seemed like it was gonna be a snoozefest.

Any conflict is more interesting if it is a battle between "good" and "evil".

Action in the ring is paramount! However, a dramatic build up to a fight only adds to the sense this fight is significant and makes it seem like the action in the ring is better than it was. Drama builds up the fight . . . now whether the fighters live up to the hype its up to them. I would rather be let down by a boring fight than miss a good one because I was not interested in seeing it (see Huck-Povetkin)

Build up is secondary to the actual match-up and fight.
