Default Indian Boxer alleges cheating

Over on box rec

Indian boxer beaten by Brit alleges 'cheating, cheating, cheating'
Manoj Kumar, the Indian light-welterweight beaten 20-16 in the Round of 16 by Team GB Captain Tom Stalker last night, has alleged that the London 2012 boxing tournament is full of 'cheating, cheating, cheating'.

Manoj (who presumably isn't looking forward to being at home with the Kumars) said: "It doesn’t look fair because he was going in one direction and the scores of 7-4 and 9-4 to him don’t justify that.

"It doesn’t look like an Olympic Games but more like a district competition because if it’s Great Britain in the ring, it doesn’t matter.

"It’s like a district competition where there is lots of cheating, cheating, cheating."

Unsurprisingly, one score the Indian team didn't object to was the tally of 13-11 donated by the judges to Kumar's team mate Krishan Vikas. Their sense of indignation at an inaccurate scorecard was nowhere to be seen then.

Vikas appeared to have been dominated by US welterweight Errol Spence and the tally announced was greeted by widespread astonishment. However, AIBA overturned the result and reinstated Spence - the second reversal of the tournament.

i have watched most of the boxing and there have been some pretty bad decisions it seems that any scoring system will be bad if the judges are blind

I was pissed at the time of the fight, but I thought the Indian won.

Richie Woodhall described Stalker as "fortunate" to win the second round. That was an understatement to say the least.

I can't remember the exact score for the 2nd round, but I believe Stalker won it by a fair margin, which was a bit odd considering he was dead on his feet and just looking to get through the round. The indian was ripped off over the 2nd round scoring and has every right to be upset.

If cheating is what it takes to get our boxers some medals, then so be it. **** everyone else, we deserve to have the odds stacked in our favour for once!

Are you serious? Boxers should actually deserve a medal.

u r totally correct, although the odd bit of luck here and there always plays a part in any long haul competition-wether it be avoiding injurys or nicking a tight contest.some of the decisions i have seen however hav been downright harsh to say the least.my main concern with it all is that our lads hav all seemed to gas badly after the second round which makes the third look even more one sided.

Yeah but this is always the case. The Commonwealth Games wasn't any better. Ogogo must have been one of the first fighters to defeat a boxer from India (and he didn't even land a scoring punch )

At every Olympics there is always home bias and athletes and coaches expect it in advance. I think its nice that for once it is working in our favour. We have been on the wrong end of loads of decisions and scoring in events in previous olympiad

Stalker has beaten Kumar before in the amateurs so it cant be a huge suprise to Kumar to have lost. He should have worked harder, his fault. **** him
