Default victor oganov. is he a 'should have been'?

massive power.

started pro as a 22yo. i dont know his am record, or if he fought ams.

they padded his record till he was 30yo. you could argue his best days were behind him.

at 31 he got a shot at the IBO sm title, against tough, and exprienced pro, Fulgencio Zuniga and got stopped and beaten for the 1st time. a couple of fights later he got nailed by a 16-0 fighter andre direll.

did victor take the wrong road? did he leave his run too late? the man had the power to murder most super middles.

It was surprising he turned out an ordinary technical fighter, especially when you consider Kostya Tszyu worked with him for quite a while. When he lost to Garth Wood he ended up looking no better than Wood. Just a mindless slugger. He did look better against Bradd Pitt, but overall Pitt handled him fairly comfortably.

Oganov was 64-16 as an amateur & most of these wins were reportedly by stoppage which is quite amazing.
The guy could bang just too bad his footwork, lateral movement & defense were poor.

I think Victor started to really believe in his power..........and forgot about the basics......just walked up to land the power shot.........but there's no denying he had world class power......and he certainly could of been handled better imo.
