Anybody know some tall guys from any weight class that were great on the inside that don't get talked about much or don't get the credit for it?

Corrales didn't have a very small reach for his height at all. Most belittle Chico for having a very limited outside game, but his below average reach forced him to do the majority of his fighting on the inside.

Carlos Zarate was 5' 9" 72" reach which was very tall especially for Bantam weight class. Watching him run combinations on the inside against Zamora was a pleasure to watch. He was like a crisper, busier Arguello.
Further note is that Olivares and Jofre were both about 5' 5" with a 66" and 68" reach which seemed to be standard size for that weight. That means to me that Zarate always had the reach and could have boxed ears if he chose to. Instead he chose to stay in and bang KO'ing everyone. I consider that very efficient and brilliant. 63KO's of 66 wins. |
