Ahh right, I thought we were talking about nut shots and eye gouges
![]() May come in handy is any of us ever face Phil Davis in a street fight. Do you think those pink shorts discourage nut shots, and whilst the other guy thinks ''What the **** is he wearing, Hallman's cast offs?''( I dont know what that is in Portuguese) Phil goes for the eyes? |

And there's never gonna be a perfect situation, but if you have the right techinque in whatever it is your doing(and your being taught the right way) and you've done it in training and worked on actuality, with someone coming at you different ways, than it will work. But that doesn't mean after you get it you say you got it and don't need to do it anymore, you go back and do it again, even when you get sick and tired of it, so it's automatic, that's the way your suppose to train. |

That's because of UFC. UFC has a lot of people believing that all the best fighters in the world are ring fighters and not realizing that training for the ring and streets are 2 different things. Even the ground game, alot of them don't realize you waist time when you use that in the streets(it's good to adapt to your game) but you do that and most guys in the streets don't know how to fight, so you bet there gonna have buddies with them and if they are armed, you try bring someone to the ground to do a submission hold, he's gonna be stabbing you, but if your only trained for the ring, you won't know what to do it that situation. And JKD is also an MMA, and I know you've done the research but too many people still refuse to accept that Bruce Lee didn't believe in styles and adapted the techinques that actually worked, that was the most important thing. |

How would you know? Have you ever fought a real JKD fighter? The video I just posted, I actually touched hands with him and if he didn't know what he was doing, I wouldn't even waisted my time training with him. I actually had freestyle wrerstling, boxing and some Muay Thai before I even started training with him and I doubted it at first but when I tried to come at him and attack him, he made me a believer, and let me tell you, it's not pretty because he didn't even hit him me, but just block itself had me thinking. And as you can see, he doesn't just throw flashy ass shit, he wants people to attack him. Nobody yet has proven him wrong about JKD and he's treated soo many poeple like rag dolls, he doesn't even care to even do it no more, because right after he shuts up one Idiot, there will always be another idiot.

My point is that in terms of application in the real world JKD as a stand alone "art" pales in comparison to alot of other styles Quote:
Thats complete and utter bullshit. i know this because im going through it in court right now. the force has to be consistent with the threat faced. otherwise youd have guys in court saying i stabbed that guy and killed him because he spat on me. try again Quote:
you said it yourself most of the time its because they know there is a ref there that will pick it up. im not saying it doesnt EVER happen. what im saying is for every guy who ends up completely debilitated and defenseless on the floor theres a hundred guys who have fought through a low blow or blinked off a thumb in the eye. put all those same guys in a do or die situation and the numbers would increase dramatically |

Maybe I didn't make my posts clear enough. That happens, especially when alcohol is involved. I don't think an eye gouge, or groin kick, will necessarily end a fight on it's own. I'm saying the opponent's reaction to them can give you the opportunity to finish. The immediate, if only temporary, loss of vision can leave you opponent to a fight ending strike, submission, or both. |

this all started because sugarnold started crapping on about how JKD is the best style for the street because its the most "real" and muay thai/bjj/boxing etc are no good because they dont know how to fight dirty. What im saying is with all things being equal, if JKD is all youve got and you come up against an actual mma/judo/bjj and the rest of these so called "sport fighters" street or no street your MOST LIKELY going to get ****ing smashed. |

Again, I think he jumped in on a thread using the incorrect tone without being fully in on the joke. He was also a bit douchee here and there. He may think I was being a douche when I hijacked this thread. Things like that happen. If he was defending the kind of showperson shit going on in the op, then **** it; I'm glad he is mad. If he was going with his no rules vs with rules approach, then I am with him to a certain degree. Remember, the comments that got me to jump in were That's not true. He is a legitimate martial artist, with competition experience, and has a legitimate bjj belt from Relson Gracie. I probably wouldn't have posted nearly as much in this thread as I did were it not for those remarks. It's not like he said something that wasn't true. He just had an asshole's tone in this discussion. Last edited by rekcutnevets; 08-19-2012 at 03:27 PM. |
