You imply that Rampage is one-dimensional, but he wasn't. Page could take people down, grapple with them, and pound them out, or he could fight it out on the feet by using his boxing. This alone makes him more versatile and dangerous than most fighters, as most guys strongly favour one over the other or are far more adept at one than the other.

I personally believe young Rampage had the strength to take Jones down. That's a very intriguing thing to ponder, no? Makes this fight anything but a foregone conclusion.

Rampage had a few changes when ducking under Jones jab to land a good haymaker if only he threw it. This along with a better gas tank and the threat of attempting to use his wrestling would have made the fight a lot more competitive.

He can't use his elbows so he has to punch only (note how important the elbow is to his game), and he can't just crazily pull guard and be on his back as stomp and soccer kicks are allowed. He'll surely find it difficult to get past those.

I really can't say he'll lose to Rampage, but he'll surely get his payday's worth while being there.
I understand the elbows being different but when has JJ ever pulled guard?

Against Rampage he tried a flying triangle, and he pulled guard in the Rashad fight. Both were with like 10 seconds left in the round.

Jones would beat any version of Rampage, but it would be a better contested fight if it were fought under Pride rules.
