Tyson, the reason he beat SPinks was, he had absolutely no respect for Spinks punch power

Tyson walks through Spinks 10/10 times

just like Young Foreman walks through Frazier no matter how many times they fight

Michael Spinks, along with the likes of Carlos Palomino, was among the slowest starting one punch HOF KO artists in boxing history. It's a miracle to me that he had a chance to get going against even a rusty and coked up Cooney.

No version of Tyson would ever let him get out of the starting gate without tripping over it, including the one who quit to end his career with McBride. This blowout still occurs if 1985, 1986, 1987 OR 1988 Michael Spinks roids up with Shilstone while being mentally prepped by Norton's hypnotist, while 2005 Mike Tyson puffs on a joint as he walks to the ring.

Start slow against Tyson, you're dead, period.

Hey, if the Olympian implausibly had a chance to get warmed up in 1988, he might have actually had a chance to win, for all we know. His punch resistance against Cooney looked adequate enough. But it is in no way plausible Spinks ever has a chance to get going against this particular opponent, once Tyson acquired any measure of professional experience.

Ernie Terrell and Muhammad Ali were actually pretty fast starters for their styles of boxing. [Ernie produced a number of first round knockdowns in early career decision wins.] But Michael Spinks doesn't even have a Norton-Bobick anomaly on his resume in world class competition. Mike Tyson is the last guy in the world to be a slow starter against, unless protected by Palomino type punch resistance.

Even by 2002,as over the hill as he was,Tyson was still very dangerous for a round or two. If he catches Spinks early,it's quite feasible that he knocks him out as quickly as he did in their real fight when Tyson was at his best. Spinks' best hope is that he can weather the storm and potshot his way to a decision. Highly unlikely, though,as even a badly faded Tyson was all wrong for him.

In 2002 Tyson was still aggressive enough for first 3 rounds. Fight would look like the original only that he would get hit by Spinks couple of times and maybe spinks lasts longer then 90 sec.

the only version of Tyson that loses is 2005 that fought McBride for that fight tyson was totally gone he didn't even try in first round he try'd out box McBride and be patient.

Bad game plan.

All other versions beat Spinks even lethargic Douglas version.

Spinks could coast to a UD. Mike hadn't the legs or will to close him down and take him out at that stage.

If he just wanted to collect a check against Lewis he wouldn't have lasted 8 rounds. He had some pride left even if he wouldn't admit it or he would have found a way out of that fight much much earlier without taking the punishment.

I found it incredible that so many tipped Tyson to win the Lewis fight. It was obvious that he was already shot. Four of my workmates bet me that Mike would win. I was so confident that Lennox would win by kayo in the middle rounds that I accepted all of their bets. That was a GOOD drink !

Back then it was obvious that Tyson became 1 round fighter. In his previous fight vs Nielsen he carried extra 17 lbs and tired after 1st round. In the middle rounds it was an even fight as Nielsen also got tired.

In 2001-2004 Tyson was dangerous only in the 1st round (as was shown against Lennox Lewis and Danny Williams).

The reason why so many people picked Tyson to beat Lewis is that Tyson's name is legendary, and people who don't follow boxing think the fighter is the same he was 10-15 years ago.

In reality, it was a mismatch, Tyson from 2002 showed heart and chin, but no more than that. He may be Lewis' biggest name, but far from his biggest win.
