Default Re: First Fight questions

It's your first fight, my best advice would be to not over think it. Even if you're in shape you WILL get very tired, you're gloves and legs will feel heavy, you will be scared to death nervous. If you trust your coach, just focus on him, and try to stay relaxed all day prior to the match. Don't worry about 5-6 punch combos. Instead focus on establishing the jab, and going with the good old amateur stand by,"the 1-2" jab cross. Again don't over think it, it's just 3 rounds. Trust me when I say that you will learn more in this one fight than you could ever imaging. Good luck, and let us know how you do. Give it your all, win, lose, or draw, you will be better.

Thanks man. I've been watching a lot of first fight vids and it seems that the fight always turns to a sloppy brawl by the end. If this happens to me and my opponent does this do I brawl with him or do i get out of the way and pick my shots? I've been told that you want to look like the busier fighter rather then looking for the cleaner shots.

Deadhead, you're over-thinking it man. Listen to your coach, stand your ground, and keep fighting no matter how tired you are. You will get tired, sloppy, and you won't sleep good the night before. If it's any consolation neither will your opponent, he's in the same position and same fight as you. If you have trained and done your work then you should have confidence in that. Just go out there and do what you know. Enjoy the experience, you only have 1 first match.
