Default Who has the better defence, Khan or Brook?

Obviously Brook. Not that it's any great achievement, he's hardly that good either.

Brook when he's concentrating on what comes back at him but he can be as poor as Khan. Khan's defence is his feet, Brook's defence is his reflexes.

I'd go for Brook, but i don't think Brook is great defensively..

Brook isnt great yet.

But he has been pretty dam good.... apart from one fight.

Both fighters are still learning, but Brook has and will always have the better defence. He just looks more calm when being faced with pressure and seems to be more of an adaptive fighter.

Khan is very jittery, Tense, and i think he needs a new trainer if he is going to progress in the defense department.

I agree, good post.

I think fighting with a broken nose and not being ready for such adversity in that bout lead some to suggest that Brook hasn't got a good defence. It's not great as we say but Khan is way more jittery, and isn't as skilled defensively as he uses the very basics and still struggles with that. Brook tries to be a little to stylish at times defensively. But he's a good fighter no doubts about that for me.

yeah Khan is fast but very stiff which doesn't help defense. I doubt that anybody can change his game dramatically but lets see

Yep it will be hard, he isn't that flexible on the upper body. I do wonder how much damage was done early by his first S&C. The Rugby guy, he was putting so much emphasis on the upper body..

Khan panics more. Tries to hard to show he takes shots rather than avoid them.

Its hard to tell right now , I dont think Brook has been in with any real bangers like Khan has.

For me Brook looks smoother , but against the likes of Matthew Hatton I dont think he gets tested.

Thanks for the responses. I started this thread after Laz claimed Brook was just as hittable as Khan & I couldnt convince him otherwise.

I was curious to see if others shared this opinion as it seems fairly obvious to me that Brook is better defensively.

Brook by a fair margin. He does get tagged a bit but it's more when he's sloppy than anything else.

When he steps up in competition we'll learn more.

Khan is either out of range or he's getting hit regularly with shots. If you aren't overwhelmed by speed and are comfortable under fire than Khan is yours.

Khan needs to use his jab more in isolation I think, and really thud it home, show the opponent who's boss. Just throw it once with nothing behind it, do that a few times each round and see how the opponent reacts.

His problem is that he always feels like he has to be doing something, whether it's flashy 'defence' (I use that word carefully) in the form of footwork or 100 punch flurries. Make the opponent do something for a change, then try and use their mistakes against them.

Not saying Khan has anywhere near the level of craft that a Mayweather or a Marquez has, but much of what they do is very simple. Floyd letting Ortiz have outside position and then simply hooking his right hands a little bit more was very clever.

Ortiz probably thought getting outside was going to be the key.
