Exclamation Guillermo Rigondeaux's appeal fails

Junior featherweight prospect Robert Marroquin still will be a part of the Sergio Martinez-Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. HBO PPV card on Sept. 15 at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas. He just won't be challenging world titleholder Guillermo Rigondeaux.
Marroquin instead will face Alejandro Lopez in a 10-round nontitle bout, Top Rank vice president Carl Moretti told ESPN.com on Thursday.

Top Rank had Lopez on hold but finalized the fight after Rigondeaux's appeal to have an injunction against him lifted failed Wednesday, killing the fight for good.

"Lopez was scheduled to fight in a couple of weeks, so he's been training for at least six weeks," Moretti said. "If he's anything like the kid that showed up against Teon Kennedy, this ought to be a heck of a fight."
In August 2011, Lopez (23-2, 7 KOs), 25, of Mexico, scored a 12-round unanimous decision upset against Kennedy in a nationally televised fight.

Top Rank was planning for Rigondeaux to make his second title defense against Marroquin (22-1, 15 KOs), 23, of Dallas until a Florida judge issued an injunction against him last month preventing him from fighting.
Gary Hyde, Rigondeaux's manager, sought the injunction, as well as to have his contract upheld, because Top Rank made Rigondeaux's fight with Marroquin without his involvement or approval.

This is the second time that Hyde has had his contract with Rigondeaux (10-0, 8 KOs), a two-time Cuban Olympic gold medalist who defected and eventually won a world title in January, upheld in court.
Rigondeaux lost his appeal to have the injunction lifted Wednesday in Florida's Third District Court of Appeals.

I guess I don't understand, what the hell are the courts getting involved for and why are they keeping Rigo from fighting??

I don't give a **** how much, if at all, Rigondeaux has ****ed over his manager, an injunction to prevent him from fighting is wrong. He cannot be looking out for Rigondeaux's best interests by keeping him out of the ring.

I hope other fighters that are considering working with Hyde are watching this and get the message that if you work with this guy and your relationship turns sour he will attempt to put your career on hold.

Where's Kid Cuba, he would know what's going on? Why does Rigo's manager not want him to fight, on one of the biggest pay per views of the year?

It seems like this Hyde scum likes to take full advantage of the fact that these Cuban defectors will do just about anything to flee, including making a deal with the devil. Dude shouldn't be able to play with someone's livelihood, like he owns them, **** should be illegal...it just doesn't seem right. But apparently it's perfectly acceptable if court justices are siding on his behalf.

Because the fight was not approved by his manager Gary Hyde, who claimed he had better offers. If you remember, he was the Irish guy that originally signed Rigo:

I believe this is not the only fight that was stopped due to Hyde legal threat. He also did a stellar job for the 3 Irish Cubans, the guys are really thriving.

Dude gives Irishmen a bad name Thanks for clearing things up for me, as I can be slow when it comes to understanding how the business side works.

So do you have any idea how Rigo was signed to a fight defending his title, on a huge ppv card without his manager knowing about it, or giving his okay to take the fight?
