Lightbulb Canadian boxing,

DECISIONS, DECISIONS
At the present time there does not appear
to be an operating CANADIAN BOXING HALL OF FAME.

So, if followers of Canadian boxing and the
past and present members want to see it renewed,
revived and active, then the process needs to be
start and steps taken to get the operation going.

I can't remember all the names but in the 30s, 1940s & 50s Canada was a strong force in Boxing, Montreal particularly. There were many fighters campaigning in Britain, a few Globetrotters, namely the very underated & forgotten Sonny Jones and many of the Top boys from then also noted in the States...

Vic Folly
Al kid McCoy
Lou Brouliard
Canada Lee
Paul Schaefer
Ray McIntyre
the Packy brothers

just dozens of them I can't think of off hand, many top & great fighters and contenders!

I like this idea quite a bit.

As an inaugural class, may I suggest the following:

George Dixon
Mysterious Billy Smith
Sam Langford
Tommy Burns
Jimmy McLarnin
Lou Broullaird
George Chuvalo
Arturo Gatti
Lennox Lewis

Plus choices that might the likes of...

Johnny Coulon
Albert "Frenchy" Belanger
Jackie Callura
Donny Lalonde
Matthew Hilton

etc. Lots of really, really good fighters to choose from, and I agree whole heartedly that they should be honored.

If it is not in operation but it was-where is all the awards and the Hall of Fame names which have already been inducted?Where do you start and who is in posession of these documents?Too many unanswered questions.
In other words where do you start?

I would suspect most,if not all of the above, have already been inducted. It wouldn't be an inaugaral induction,it would be a continuation.

Thumbs up Re: Canadian boxing,

My own Canadian Boxing Wall of Fame - Project 100

In the beginning of the current year, I picked 60 names for
the first part of the project, and 40 more will be picked in 2014.
Some of the obvious ones include past world champions such as
Jimmy McLarnin, uncrowned champs like Sam Langford, and
some top level Canadians such as George Chuvalo, Nicky Furlano,
Billy Townsend, Sammy Luftspring, Vic Foley and many more.
Of course there was one of the early champions GEORGE DIXON.

Yvon Durelle might be worth throwing into the mix, as well as Chuvalo's great domestic rival who won their series of three, Bob Cleroux.
1960 and 1961 must have been a treat for Canadian fans with the Cleroux-Chuvalo trilogy fueling interest.
How far has Canada slid if the Great White North can degenerate from the manly likes of Chuvalo and Cleroux to Bieber?

As stated before, there is a Cdn Boxing Hall of Fame-it's just in hibernation. Most,if not all the names mentioned have already been inducted.Florida Jacks gym in downtown Toronto housed all the memorabelia and the honour roll and plaques, but when he died a few years ago everything vanished. Some recluse has no doubt stored this treasure in his basement and it will take Inspector Clouseau to find it and restore it in a proper place.
To start a new Hall of Fame is just ludicrous.
