Used to be a fan of MMA but I can't stand the UFC. I really wish they followed the Pride model. Still a big fan of K-1. But none of these combat sports can match the skill and subtlety of boxing.

"Boxing" goes back to ancient times.
And MMA is similar to ancient Pankration. Pankration practitioners were well trained for War. [ame]********en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ancient_Greek_boxing[/ame] There is a great part in here about Dioxippus. [ame]********en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pankration[/ame] |

Any type of combat is great to watch. I like boxing and mma the most, but even watching something like sumo wrestling can be pretty entertaining tv veiwing.

Actually K-1 is still around, they did a big show in the US last weekend. If you were afan of the classic K-1 events you should check out the new big boyz that have signed all the old K-1 names "Glory".
You show the kind of ignorance that can only be forgiven in a man that has taken far too many elbows and knees to the head.

Maybe he should have said, "I love boxing the most, because it is just two guys punching each other. The other sports are just too complex for me to follow."

I watch freak show fights and very very occasionally a whole UFC card, which i do enjoy. cant really get into it like boxing, and if K1 as more readily available to me I'd probably watch it a lot. Its easier to relate to the stand up than the ground game

Me, boxing will always be no 1. That being said, I quite enjoy watching muay thai, and K1. No really into grappling arts or MMA. But do I respect them? Of course. It takes serious balls to step into any kind of combat venue, and all arts require hardcore training and dedication. |

I'm into any combat sport but more of a preference with striking.
Hence I prefer boxing, kickboxing, muay thai, K1 etc. Although I appreciate all the nuances of MMA, a striking match suits my taste better. (Not that I don't appreciate ground game or grappling mind you) |
