Art Aragon
The original "Golden Boy"
Age 16

"Art aged 16 on the way to becoming the Golden Boy of boxing. We were in same homeroom in the 10th grade at Roosevelt High School in 1944. In electric shop, Art brought a pair of dice every morning. We played for pennies and got caught, every day. He didn't fight as "Blackie Powers." He fought as "Baby Face" Aragon and lost his first try at six rounds to Bert White at Ocean Park Arena. I consoled him the next day in a street car on downtown Broadway, Memories!
