The best possible version of Larry Holmes would be way too much for Frazier.
Id only favour prime Tyson against him.

Its different with Joe Frazier though. Shavers hit him with one huge punch. Holmes had a terrific heart and recovery ability. Holmes would have to absorb a brutal bodybeating throughout the fight against Joe. Then if Frazier catches him with the hook late he may not be able to bounce back the same as he did so many times.

Frazier was old school. He broke you down body..then head.

Though he had terrific recuperation powers I don't think they were as good as alis, could larry have survived the storm ali did in the FOTC? And I'm talking about the body shots too

I wouldn't pick a slipping Frazier to beat a fresh Holmes, no, though I'd go for Frazier prime for prime.

Frazier would knock out Holmes in under 5. Complete mismatch prime for prime.

Maybe you two could get together and sort this out once and for all?

I'd go with what appears to be a broad consensus. Prime for prime is Frazier's victory, but end of Joe's career would be beaten by Holmes.

Dont be fooled by the Ali win, Holmes hit harder than Ali and its near impossible to stop the man.
Larry was a great body puncher and would use an uppercut/hook to snap Joe's head back.

Is there any wonder joes prime was relatively short lived? The amount of punishment he took in the FOTC alone was downright insane, he sure deserved to be called a warrior

I wouldn't put my money on holmes having more power than ali, don't forget alis hands were getting more fragile later on in his career. I don't think larrys uppercut would prevail in an inside fight with just who was murderous with his body shots and left hooks

Marvis Frazier looked handy, but why they pitched him in against Holmes at that stage I don't know. Must have been the money.

In his autobiography Joe says how proud he was of Marvis in the ring and the fact that he made about a million and a half by the time he quit.

Twud prevail at mid range after the battering he would inevitably of taken by the jab.

Holmes stiff straight jab didn't have as much directional variation as alis so he'd have missed more, plus ali had a lead right to throw joe off his rythymn on his way in

Just watched highlights of the FOTC, man they were both electric that night. Makes a mockery of modern heavyweight title fights
