Mitchell is a great lad. It takes acknowledgement of faults to become a better fighter. I'm sure he will.

There's stuff going on that we don't know about. No good reason for Mitchell to be so inactive.

I like Mitchell, want him to win every fight he's in. He's clearly not scared of taking the big fights, not scared of losing, gets himself in top shape etc. So why the inactivity?

Have to agree- I was talking to an amateur boxer at a wedding a few weeks back and he said he never touched alcohol at all. If that's the discipline of someone in the amateur ranks then it makes you wonder why someone like Mitchell/Brook/Hatton can't do that. Each to their own however.

He fought at light heavyweight so I said to him that he feasibly could be Nathan Cleverly's next opponent going on current form.

he's not the first fighter to talk about having a beer after the big one, some old greats went in hungover, he was fit for this one, he just got beat by a very good fighter

mitchell was 100% for the fight

got caught, and his glass chin was shattered like it was in the katsidis fight

carl johnanson nearly did him early in his career

He may have been well prepared for this fight, but overall I don't think he's led the life of a totally dedicated professional.

Seems a bit odd that a fighter of Mitchell's apparent talent went down so easily against a guy not known for knockout power, a well prepared Mitchell should have lost a fairly close decision. And then wanted to get Ricky down the pub.

Not seen the vid, but he has a point. Even if he is to blame for that.

I think judging from Saturday, Kev was only around 60-70% prepared. Certainly not 100.

That's for sure.

It doesn't matter how much training he did, if he hasn't been fighting regularly he can't be at his best. If he had this fight a few short months after beating Murray, I'm sure he would have fared a lot better. Mitchell is a tough, gritty fighter, yet against Burns he looked like a novice once he got tagged.
