Cotto's defining moment?

I take his performance even in defeat against Mayweather as his defining moment simply because he has overcome hell just to get to that point and managed to gather himself mentally to be focused for that fight.

I'd give 2nd to revenge on Margarito

3rd Mosley

4th Judah/Quintana

5th his overall destruction of solid B/B+ level fighters at 140lbs.

As sad as it is to say, the three biggest defining moments of his career (in terms of specific fights) are his three losses.

In due time, I think Cotto vs. Margarito I will be his most talked about, Cotto vs. Mayweather will be his most re-watched, and Cotto vs. Pacquiao will be a lesser combination of both.

If anything, the losses make Cotto even more endearing and admirable, IMO. Cotto handles himself like a true professional fighter. He has taken all of the challenges put in front of him. When you do that, inevitably you will likely lose a fight or two.

Pac and May won't fight each other, but Cotto fought both. And the highly avoided (likely plastered up) Margarito.

Edit: I know Margo wasn't undefeated.

Cotto is a great fighter, but the fight that sticks out to me was when he beat Judah. due to styles making fights, I thought Cotto could be in for real trouble and Judah did cause problems, but the way Cotto fought back and won was breath taking

Quintana did not have a belt, they fought for a vacant title.

The Margarito revenge fight was his moment. The Judah fight was a solid encounter but the Mosley fight was too close to be a great victory. A rematch of that fight was in order at the time.
