He was 165 vs Barker, 170 vs Dzinziruk, 168 vs. Williams 2, 167 vs. Pavlik, and 166 vs. Williams 1. His weight against Chavez is perfectly consistent with these numbers. I'd further note that he was 176 30 days out in the Williams rematch, so your assumption that he simply must have been heavier in the ring against Chavez due to his pre-fight weight is erroneous.
