Margarito is/was the far better fighter. Pacquiao also bust him up in far more impressive fashion.

The only thing Chavez has over him is that he was/is in his prime that looked to be improving with each fight. That's it.

So I'm going with Marg - who, despite not coming off a decent win or anything, was still a formiddable foe and not that badly past his best like everyone's claiming.

Pac sent Margo to retirement. I got Pac as a more impressive win against a better quality fighter. Sergio's win over Jr wasn't that great to me. Most people knew that Jr was going to lose, though I'm not sure how the people in ESB thought Jr was gonna win.

Yeah, I'd say Pac got busted up just as bad as Martinez did. In fact, bar the final round of Martinez's fight, it's fair to say he got hit more.

If I remember correctly most spanners on here thought Marg was gonna win too. Or I guess they was the most vocal about it at least (probably *****'s).

Martinez vs. Chavez.

Martinez started boxing at 20. It's rare to be able to be good, let alone a World Champion after starting so late.

Chavez had first-hand knowledge of boxing watching his Father who also gives him pointers.

Chavez was undefeated, healthy, and held a title at 160. He has a World Class trainer in Freddie Roach.

The fight was held at 160 and no catchweights. Chavez blew up in weight and was much bigger than the 37 year old Martinez.

Did I mention Martinez was 37 years old and Chavez was younger and fresh?

Sergio schooled Chavez for 11+ rounds. And showed heart in the 12th when he was knocked down. He stood his ground and won that fight. He could have coasted but gave the fans what they wanted. He fought to the end.

Did I mention Sergio was 37 years old in this fight against an Undefeated, Fresh, Younger, Bigger opponent in Chavez Jr. for a World Title without catchweights...

On the other side,

Pac was fighting for a World Title at JrMW, at a catchweight which is a disgrace, and against a former WW who had previously been brutally beat down and KTFO by a Past Prime Shane Mosley. Margarito did not earn that shot at a "vacant" title.

Margarito's weapons of choice, special wraps, were no longer with him. If it really made that much of a difference in his career, I don't know. I'm still not positive on all the details.

Anyway, Pac was less impressive than a Past Prime Shane Mosley was so....

Sergio over JCC Jr. easily.

Margarito was not a top 400 P4P fighter when Pac fought him.

JCC Jr. was a debatable but likely top 100 P4P when Sergio fought him.

Up until Round 12, Sergio landed more and got hit less than Pacquiao, in my opinion. Round 12 did however happen. Once again, the two previous points about the quality of opponent and where they were in their careers makes this decisive. Not close.

You don't remember correctly. You weren't on ESB when Pac and Margarito was announced, when they were in training, before nor right after the fight. And if you were, then you're a troll for having an alt.

Everybody except for the usual few troll-like fans thought Pacquiao would dominate him. A slight majority, myself included, thought he would stop him.

Martinez. No catch weight demand.

Pac cause he is a former flyweight champion destroying a guy at 150 that had a huge size advantage on fightnight and he went easy on him in the end having ripped apart his eye.
Sergio's victory would have been more impressive to me if he had brutally ko'd chavez after schooling him for all rounds, both were good wins though.
