Masternak vs Alekseev Sauerland Wins Purse Bid

This fight was rumored a while ago and looks like its actually happening now for the CW Euro belt. After 28 fights and a rather slow progression Masternak is finally taking a step up and Alekseev should give us a great indication of how good he really is.

Masternak has looked promising but it has been all against less then stellar opposition. Alekseev will be a good measuring stick for sure.

I agree that Masternak has been brought along quite slowly, and has fought a few bums more then he probably needed to and shoulda/coulda stepped up much sooner then this.

But then again he is only a young 25 years old, so I suppose there is no hurry or harm in this at this point.

Gonna be a good fight.

Depends on how Alekseev fights, he's lost his identity inside the ring his last couple fights. If he boxes mainly from the outside and uses his sharp counter punching it will be a very interesting fight. I'm still a little skeptical about Masternak because of his defensive style.

Kolodziej is targeting the IBF belt(Hernandez)...and Masternak wants the Diablo fight...

By 2013 they will emerge and get their chances vs a highly rated opponent or champion.

Well looks like Alekseev rather be stripped by the EBU then fight Masternak, and Masternak will fight for the vacant belt. A nice duck by Alekseev.

Alekseev has some fucked up health problem where he is having trouble moving anything on the left side of his body and doctors haven't found a diagnosis yet. Masternak will probably fight Afolabi and the winner has to face Alekseev within 90 days of winning the belt so long as he's healthy and recovers.

Way to trash Alekseev.

I haven't heard anything about him being injured and it wasn't mentioned in the article, either. If true then he has a legit reason.

Initial rumors were that Master would fight Ola for the Euro title instead which would have been a solid test. Looks like Ola will get the Huck fight instead.

Masternak is within 2-3 fights away from a real title crack.

Arslan is fighting Huck next right? Chakhkiev was also mentioned as a possibility and his team has sounded like they've wanted to make that step up. Masternak vs Chakhkiev may be possible.

Alex wanted no part of Master.

What is wrong with you?

Alekseev said he had a problem with the intervertebral discs in his spine which caused a pinched nerve so it makes sense about him losing feeling. The EBU has ordered that the Masternak vs Haapoja winner has to fight Alekseev within 90 days of winning the belt.

WBA rankings
1 - vacant
2 - Kolodziej
3 - Flores

WBO rankings
1- Flores
2- Alekseev
Alekseev vs Flores may be ordered as a final eliminator unless Flores decides to go the WBA route so if Alekseev gets a final eliminater fight he'll obviously take that rather than fight for the EBU title. That's the only thing that would prevent the Masternak fight.

Seems like Masternak is fighting Juho Haapoja from Finland 18(11)-2(1)-1 for vacant EBU title. This should be Masternak's fight. Haapoja has a big heart and lots of guts so I guess all stones will be turned in that fight. IMHO Haapoja tends to get carried away by his heart.
