Actually, Bannister would likely be #1 on a list of British runners made by British runners. There are still many that regard him as the greatest of all.

Why not?

Even if some club runners would beat him today, you would still have to recognise the historic importance of what he did.

Fitz has to be considered very highly on the LB4LB list, without significant film it may be hard for some but a good look at his resume and some of the fighters that he beat in his time puts him in my top 5-10 he was a freak, which is a rare group shared with people like Langford,Marciano,Dwight Braxton Quawi, Bob Foster,Sandy Saddler,Willie Pep for various reasons

He's a top 15 lock. Justifiably top 10, a bit iffy and questionable at top 5 IMHO.

P4P i currently rate him at number 12, but he can be in the top ten, and i would argue that he wasn't really a British fighter(although born in Cornwall, England), as he learned his boxing in Australia, then moved to America, i don't think he ever claimed British citizenship.

Depending on source used but Bob lived in Helston Cornwall till aged 9, that in anyones book means he was a British born fighter, so was a British citizen.

Where a person ends up does not alter their Nationality, a person can change citizenship in later life but place of birth makes him British, and in fact moved to New Zealand on leaving British shores.

Cornish born and bred, strong in the arm, weak in the head
