Mundine has nothing to apologise over, he brought much needed attention to boxing in Australia and his fight with Green was the biggest boxing gala event we've ever had.
Although at some point he would have to be dissapointed in himself for how his career panned out. He had the natural ability, money behind him and discipline to probably crack it in America at some stage but he didn't back himself. At the end of the day he's probably the greatest wasted/lost talent since Dave Sands, but that's on him. As far as being the best Australian boxer ever, he falls short. He wouldn't be the best Indigenous Middleweight Australia's produced. Both Ron Richards and Dave Sands would of beaten him and they both had better resumes, without the luxury of having the financial backing he does. |
