Default What is it about Andre Ward?

The guy seems to get a little bit pissed off that despite being undefeated and a technical ace, nobody seems to care as much about him as they do about the other SMWs like Froch and Bute. What do you guys think? Is it because he doesn't have an all-action style? Holier than thou personality? No away fighting?

I've never seen him pissed off. He's acting the way a fighter in his position should act. Always comes across well in interviews and has never shown any frustration/outbursts to whatever criticisms out there that may exist.

If I were him I would be. Wins the Super Six, unifies the WBA/WBC belts, becomes a top ten P4P fighter...and nobody really cares; not in the same way they do about a lot of other fighters who aren't anywhere near as good, anyway.

So, you begin by saying: What the hell is he moaning about?

To now: If I were him, I'd be moaning.

Anyway, he is beginning to get recognition. I'm sure he, more than anyone, realises his style is not built to attract immediate attention, and that he needs to set the building blocks slowly. And at the moment, it's paying off. He was given a healthy sum of money for his latest fight and featured on a powerful TV network that are very keen on investing in him in the coming years. He's being treated as the future of the sport, so I'd say his talents/skills are being given the respect they deserve.

I think it probably comes down to his personality more than anything else. He comes across as a straight forward decent guy who happens to be an exceptional boxer.
There is no outrageous ego, no ****y outbursts, no rags to riches story. He's just an out and out professional fighter.

If he wants to start getting the ppv numbers that Floyd, Manny and the like enjoy, then he will have to start shooting his mouth off or get in a street brawl or something.

If he was British he would be a superstar.

He still has time to fight in another guys backyard, I mean Calslappy waited until his last two fights to do so. Oh yeah and Calslappy had to get over his "fear of flying"!!!!

I don't understand a lot of the hate directed at Calzaghe. People keep saying 'He dodged Jones and B-Hop in the '90s!', but back then nobody had heard of Joe; Jones, Hopkins and the other stars had bigger fish to fry back then. Besides, the WBO belt was nowhere near as prestigious back then as it is now. Maybe if Ward was British he would be a superstar, but that's probably more to do with the decline of boxing in the USA in comparison with its popularity in Britain.

He wiped out the 168lbs division.
His next move is 175lbs... But no comp there either, Ward just beat the kingpin.
