Default Sparring questions

Hi guys, I'm Pablo from brazil, and been competing in amateurs for a while, I'm 56kg (the lowest weight in my gym), there is no other gym in my city with fighters competing in my weight or closer, but my friend with 64~66kg who is national vice-champion(2011) and I've been passing some troubles during my sparring since he's a lil taller and much bigger than me, still I try to stick my game and improve my skills, so I would like to know from you guys, how do you fight against someone who put a high pressure on you, with a great power, thigh guard and keeps hitting you even when get hit?
Thanks a lot

Jab a lot and lateral movement. That's the best I can give you without knowing almost anything about how the other guy fights and what his attributes are. Is he fast? Slow? Good footwork? Does he jab alot? Head movement? Are you a good counter puncher?

Hey, thanks for answering and sorry for the late feedback, he is a fighter with a great power, strong high-guard, foot grounded, but he is very explosive and throw great combinations, he fights best on close-range.

There are tons of examples you can watch, but I think you'd benefit more from talking to your trainer (or sparring partner). He knows your style a whole lot better and it's the logical way to approach things.
We're totally in the dark about how you perform or what level you're currently at. So our answers here , though well intended, will be very vague in general.

Use the ring Counter feint stick to just 1 to punches then move and wait for the opening but like jdk said we don't know your level but I'm sure sooner rather then later you will work it out.

Watch Rigo's amateur fight, from 4minute onwards. After he scores a nice difference, he starts to out box and uses great lateral movement to get out of the way, get in range.

Like what other posters have said, lateral movement and footwork is the way to go against such an opponent. You don't wanna be standing toe to toe with him as he is bigger and stronger than you. Constantly move and pivot as you use your jab to keep him out. Even if you jab doesn't connect, it'll do a good job keeping him thinking and giving him a harder time to come in.

Use angles to counter punch him and when he comes at you, pivot away and do not move backwards in a straight line, for you are prone to cornering yourself and vulnerable to more punches...

I really appreciate these tips guys, I sparred yesterday thinking about everything you said and the result did very well! He was used to see me going backwards so he was surprised and took some time to catch me, althought he's more taller and stronger than me so I got in trouble as always but my mind and reaction was ready for him which helped me a lot! Thanks one more time for those tips and I will keep posting more feedbacks through the week

every boxer as a floor in there style ,,,watch him sparr other boxers & look for a opening ,,,,you have to hit your sparring partner to get respect to slow them down ,,,don't forget if your getting hit you need to work on your defense

sup guys, I got some feedbacks from today's sparring..
I try to move a lot today, but I failed at keep my hands up and got hit by a explosive jab that busted my nose, I try to slip move from the sides, but the always got me with his right hand and launched bunches and bunches on me, I'm feeling very disappoint with myself today, but we have to live day by day and learn from our mistakes. cya guys.
