Three people were taken to hospital after a gang armed with batons and knives stormed a bus and attacked passengers on the top deck.
The attack took place on the bus as it pulled into a stop in Bordesley Green Road, Birmingham, on Sunday afternoon.
A car pulled up in front of the bus and four Asian youths got out, went on to the bus's upper deck and assaulted three or four youths sitting there.
They were joined in the attack by up to 10 more youths.
Earlier attack
The attack took place on the 97 Travel West Midlands service as it pulled into a stop near an Aldi store.
The car which pulled up in front of the bus was a dark Peugeot which was also used, along with a BMW, when the attackers left the bus.
The three people take to hospital were treated for cuts and bruising but were not kept in overnight.
Det Ins Simon Vowles from West Midlands Police said he thought the attack was linked to an earlier one in nearby Stetchford.
"We know a number of people were on the 97 bus, which was travelling from Stechford to Bordesley Green, and a number of these passengers got off when the youths got on.
"We are appealing for these passengers to make contact with us or anyone who was in the area at the time."

If he only took punches to the jaw, it's unlikely there would be any marks on his face. Most street fights are scrappy and clean shots aren't landing. He could still have been beaten up and yet not have any marks on his face.
