Haven't been able to watch it all as I am on lunch at the moment, what weight class were you fighting at? the other guy looked a lot taller and not much slimmer.

It's white collar so there's no strict weight class. I'm 12 st and he's supposed to be 11 st 7.

He was basically a late replacement as the person I was fighting pulled out with flu who was my weight and about 6' 3" !! (I'm 5' 6" btw!)

It all depend's on if you want the honest truth and actually going to take it in but for a first fight it was okay to watch you had the better boxing stance. At time's the other guy was dropping his hand's. You could of boxed his head off just throwing the jab and then throwing a fast hard right hand he was open for the right hand lead all night long. It all depend's why you are boxing because some white collar show's are just street fight's i would say keep it but maybe join a am gym and learn there but keep it up

I'm boxing white collar as i'm too old and heavy for anything else tbh. I've been training for a bit on pads/bags etc but only started sparring 4 weeks ago.

He was open for the right hand, but there was quite a reach difference and had his left out A lot of the time which made it difficult to get to him.

Tbh a lot of what I wanted to do kinda went out the window as the stress/adrenaline/nerves made me forget quite a bit of what I planned to do and was fighting on instinct for a lot of it

Good job bro! Congrats on the first organized fight!

Your opponent had horrible footwork. What weight?

Cheers fella! I'm 12 stone, opponent's supposed to 11 st 7 but was probably slightly heavier. I think my opponent was more of a fighter than pure boxer as he came in throw loads of shots at once and then backed off and then came again where I tried to box and move

Got ya!

Feel free to post more videos. I wouldn't mind seeing how much better you get from fight to fight!

Does that mean took a beating well?!?

Only joking (well sort of...) thanks man, I appreciate that as although I've only really been lurking on the forum I always respect what you say as you talk a lot of sense and are pretty involved in the game so put a lot of weight in what you say.

Is there any tactic/move that can stop people rushing in as it was pretty hard to defend against?

That ring was so small and your shorter you should not be backing up at all. When his left hand is out that far you know he can only throw a right hand the left is doing nothing until he returns it. You let him hit you then rest when you see his taking a break especially in the 3rd go back to him when hes tired. HTH

Cheers mate! I am trying to get down a bit but I don't reckon I'll be able to get down to much below 11 stone without starving myself. I'm not gonna go amateur as I'm too old now so probably just do a few white collar events.

Good first fight. Looked great for someone who had only been sparring 4 months.
If you don't mind my asking - who won?
You certainly had the cleaner technique, he had nothing but a height & reach advantage. His footwork and defense were non-existent. A tall guy who leaves his hands down and puts his chin up when you attack is just BEGGING for an overhand right. This should be part of any short-ish, fighter's arsenal. I'm 5"8 and it's the punch I land most often (even against similar sized opponents).
And I know about adrenaline taking over. I've had 5 fights so far and I still get carried away most times. I'm 10 times better in regular sparring. I think most novices go through this. Having said that, you looked relatively composed.
