TKO loss for Joe late rounds. Joe would of lasted kissing time back with Benn, Collins. Gman etc

Imo Calzaghe would have little trouble with Froch.

He's too versatile to lose to Froch, plus he has a better gas tank, punch selection and he's a lot quicker. Plus Froch isn't stopping him.

Ward hit the nail on the head regarding Frochs "power" at top level. Outside of Bute we have to go all the way back to a fight in which whilst showing his never say die attitude, we also have to remember he was losing in his fight with Jermain Taylor. Froch whilst heavy handed is overrated as a puncher.

Calzaghe 117-111 or 118-110.

Calzaghe was a level above Froch. Too fast, too agile, wouldn't fade under the pressure like some Froch opponents due to Calzaghe's insane stamina and work rate.

Froch would make it competitive though. Calzaghe could make the mistake of staying in the pocket for too long and that would give Froch chances to land, but Calzaghe had a great chin and he'd win a clear decision.

stamina - they were about level, both outstanding

defence - calzaghe has edge but not much, joe was easy to hit but not as easy as froch

chin - froch has edge but joes is not too far behind

offense - joes strength lay in being a southpaw, but had poor efficiency at the elite level. froch was a fearsome slugger. advantage froch.

resume - froch wihout a doubt

who wins - close. forch by ko everywhere except Cardiff or split loss, or joe by narrow points win in Cardiff.

Agree 100%. Joe by 9-3 type decision. Just a class above.

I think it would be closer than a lot of people think. I think there'd have been lots of animosity in the build up, and they'd have been moments in the fight where they'd have had a tear up.

If Joe could have gone in and boxed him and kept his composure, it would have been an easy enough win. But I just don't see it. I think Carl could have lured him into a brawl, and Joe would have had some bad spells where he was getting hit with big shots. But I think he would have weathered the storm and come out a clear winner from a competitive fight.

With Froch for some inexplicable reason unable to get a KO in Cardiff? Is there something in the air in Cardiff? Thanks for that contribution & incite..

LOL
course, joes ref steps in when joe gets floored by froch and gives joe the fight.

Joe would engage him far more than Andre Boward, but Carl's got next to no chance. He's not stopping Joe, he's not getting his usual late stamina advantage, he's getting beaten convincingly on the cards

Very easy fight to call

Joe would box his ears off in my opinion.

Yeah Joe would have definitely got involved. But he would have got his face slapped by Enzo in between rounds and did what he was a true master at - changed strategy mid fight. Would have been similar to the Kessler fight, although prime Kessler was even more dangerous than prime Froch

Hi mate, how's things?

I wouldn't have given Carl a huge chance, but he definitely had a chance.

You're talking about two ego's colliding in front of thousands of screaming fans.

On paper, it should be no contest. But we've seen Joe drop his hands and have a macho shoot out with the likes of Byron Mitchell. I can envisage both guys talking to each other, and them having an actual fight, with all science being thrown out of the window. It's a dangerous game when you're fighting with emotions running high. I think it would have been a very exciting fight for the fans.

Yes. Calzaghe had a very high boxing IQ and was very adaptable even in the middle of the round. I rate Carl but Joe was very dynamic.
