Brilliant mate.Well done.Have you read Giudice's book?

I'd say El Flaco has the names on his resume to get a good crack at top 30 AT.
I'd maybe even put him top 25,but I'm biased, and I know many rate him lower.
But I make no bones about the fact that my top 10 is based on my favourite fighters, not who achieved what, and Arguello is an all time lock for me.

I hope Divac sees this.

El Flaco Explosivo is ranked high especially as a p4p puncher he's personally my favorite fighter so im not the best to ask for a realistic AT rating id probably have him at 26 realistically but I want to move him higher due to personal bias.

A lot of people have him more around the 40-50 mark, but for me,the way he lit up the SFW division, and had names like Chacon,Bazooka,Olivares and Castillo, mean that I can feel quite justified in making him top 30.

Only my opinion though.I'm very much in the "Flaco's underrated" camp.

Thanks for the post. A nice reminder of just how fearsome Arguello's punching power really was when he was fighting.

The biggest by a long shot is his first fight with Aaron Pryor, although that was towards the end of his career and at Alexis' highest weight.

Other notables:

Ray Mancini
Cornelius Boza-Edwards
Limon
Chacon
Escalara
Castillo
Olivares

I was predisposed to liking Arguello, given that he was my father's favorite fighter. What a wonderful, flawless puncher.

Excellent video. I feel Arguello belongs with the top 30 of all time.

Pryor-Arguello I is a must-watch for any boxing fan with even a slight interest in the history of the sport. It's an absolute classic, but as Wanderer points out, it was late in Arguello's career and 2 divisions above his best. All the same, you need to see it if you haven't.

I'd like to add Watt, Kobayashi, and Ganigan to Wanderer's list. The fight with Ganigan in particular is a fun, little shootout. Alexis gets decked early for one of the few times in his career but gradually breaks the dangerous Hawaiian.

Toughie, since I haven't made a recent list. The guys who usually occupy my 20-30 set like Gavilan, Arguello, Napoles, Monzon, Hagler, Sanchez, Hearns et al. are some of my favorites of all-time though.

Yeah, I haven't done a recent one either. I just chose numbers and put Arguello in the higher spot to spite you and the keed, honestly.

Bump Sanchez outside the top 40 (or 50) now, ya hear?
