Hard to say between McClellan and Jackson. McClellan probably hit a bit harder but Jackson was quite a bit smaller so I would say the Hawk takes it p4p.

I always remember Benn saying about the G-man fight ''I could not believe how hard he was hitting me''

All hit very hard...

Jackson
G-Man
Jones
Benn...

I would have like to seen how all their power carried up into LHW and HW...

Jones had multiple one punch stoppages at LHW, and wobbled a HW pretty good that has been in with some hard HW hitters.

I would definitely call Roy Jones the most effective puncher out of the bunch, maybe not the hardest.

Agreed, but would the difference be relative punching power or aggression/volume of punches? Jones would have pot-shotted McClellan from range, whereas Benn had to drag him into a dog fight to expose his lack of stamina.

Jones rarely broke down opponents before he moved to 175, where the opposite became true (most of his stoppages were accumulation-type). At 160-168 he either blitzed people with speed/power, or shut the fight down and won on points. Benn had to work a lot harder for his stoppages at 168, whereas Jones could score one-punch kos out of nowhere (eg Tate, Malinga).

Both obviously hit extremely hard, and there isn't a lot to choose between them punch-for-punch. However, Jones appeared to be a bigger threat of ending the fight suddenly with one punch.

Good points...

Also, Benn wasn't as fast as Roy, and his punches were a bit more predictable. Roy always had that element of surprise with a single punch, rather it was it got there faster than they expected or that they didn't see it at all.

I am not sure that means Jones hit harder, i would certainly call him the more effective puncher.

Benn hit the hardest because didn't have the timing, quickness and accuracy of the other three but caused as much havoc. Just raw power.

Malinga actually said Eubank hit him hardest and admits he was saved by the bell. Even though Jones and Benn also flattened him.

I find it amusing that Jones didn't fight any of the 3 super punchers in this thread.

He got beat up by Gerald McClellan in the amateurs.

It's a good thing too, he'd have ended Mclellan and Benn's careers even worse had he gotten the chance. Blame Don King.

Jones
Jackson
McClellan
Benn

Jones is the only fighter listed that has one shot KO's over fighters in 3 separate weight divisions and the only one that has 'stunned' a fighter that outweighed him by 30 lbs. (not to mention 70 lbs. bigger than the fighters in his natural weight class).

This.

But P4P Jackson was the hardest hitter by far.

Benn was naturally a larger, heavier dude.
