Unless he's Villasana he isn't taking half the beating he took. I'm saying half because Donaire is not Villasana, he'll be out of the danger zone enough.
But Fenech would still get to him enough. IMO |

he couldn't half take a flush power punch well. That guy, is it Esparagoza (could be way off but ti sounds right to me) landed some belters on him early doors before losing (on my cards) late on as Villasana's body (foul) shots took their toll.

As much as I like Donaire, there's no way he beats Gomez at 122. donaire's quality would make Gomez fight with the same catlike speed and intensity that he had vs Zarate. he would probably bend the rules a bit and be dirty like he was with Zarate as well. I don't think anybody beats Bazooka Gomez at 122. Donaire would be a lethal threat up until the end, but I think Gomez would get him.

Madness! When did Jeff get his lights put put anywhere near his best?!?
Victor Callejas was a hard hitting super bantam titlist. He and Fenech met at feather of course. Fenech put his back against the ropes and drubbed him, eating his shots bar a very early uppercut in the first that caused Jeff to be pissed off. After that Fenech beat the fight out of Callejas despite the Puerto Rican digging in with some very heavy leather. Villasana, Callajas, Payakaroon, Zarate, Martinez, Nelson, all big hitters that couldn't knock out Fenech (Nelson did second time round of course) Being stopped by light hitters when shot seems to have totally ruined Fenech's reputation for having an iron chin it seems. On this thread i've seen Donaire refered to as a "lightweight" and he's also been criticized for fighting naturally smaller opposition.
Who on Earth has he fought that is smaller than him, apart from Darchinyan and Narvaez? He was outweighed in the ring against Montiel by about 10lbs (despite actually looking the bigger man) and was outweighed again last night. His in-ring weight last night was 127lbs, which is what most Bantamweights enter the ring at. He hasn't moved up the weights because he's a big man, he's moved up for bigger fights and more titles at different weights. For what it's worth, i'd favour Gomez to win a clear but very competitive decision over Donaire. Pretty sure that Donaire has never been down and he's been in with some big punchers, although none on Gomez's level of course. Would have been a cracking fight! |

It was on the scene the morning of the fight if you care to look it up, a short interview with Nonito.
Think I'm making it up? Yeah, that's why I'm offering my source. Also, you voted on the poll for who was more skilled out of Arguello and Lopez but failed to give any reasoning? Proceed. |

I've heard rumours of Nonito entering camp as high as 150 so he's clearly not that small a man, but he was 127 last night and that's obviously his most recent fight. He only put 5lbs on over night which is fuck all these days. He's clearly nothing more than a Super-Bantamweight and if he did elect to go up it wouldn't be because he can't make 122. I'll pop on over to the thread now.
