Default Arthur Secures Guzman Fight

Alex Arthur has got his dream fight against Joan Guzman for the WBO World Super-Featherweight title.

A date and venue for the fight will be announced shortly, but promoter Frank ****** has secured home advantage for Scot Arthur.
With Enzo Maccarinelli's explosive cruiserweight unification showdown against David Haye on March 8 and Joe Calzaghe's long awaited light-heavyweight scrap against Bernard Hopkins on April 19, ****** is delighted to add Arthur to the super-fight roster.

He said: "This years is looking to be one of the best ever for British boxing in terms of big fights. With Maccarinelli v Haye and Calzaghe v Hopkins in the coming months and now Arthur v Guzman, it is a boxing fan's dream.

"I have done the job of getting Alex the fight on home turf, now it is down to him to do the business in the ring - which I'm sure he will do. It's a big assignment but Alex is a class operator and will be thoroughly prepared on the night."

Edinburgh hot-shot Arthur, who holds the Interim title, has been gunning for a showdown against Guzman.
The hammer-fisted Dominican Republican is regarded as one of the premier fighters in the 130lb division, and Arthur is delighted the fight will be in Scotland.

Arthur said: "Frank has done a fantastic job winning the purse bids and securing home advantage for me in this mega-fight against Guzman. With my pals Enzo and Joe involved in massive fights, it's great to join them with a big fight of my own. I'm really, really, excited by the challenge in front of me. It's a chance to prove what I have always believed - that I belong in world-class company and will be world champion. It will be a hard task but I'm confident of winning and bringing another world title belt to Great Britain."

Awright Dunky, hows is goin? I mst admit we dont normally disagree on anything, but I personally think that Alex has bitten off more than he can chew, I think Joan will punch him into oblivion, although I'd be happy to be proven wrong

I wonder if Guzman will actually sign the contract for this fight now Arthur has secured home advantage.

26th April rumoured to be the date if it goes ahead.

Great news for AAA! He needs this fight, win or lose. He needs to test himself against a truly outstanding p4p fighter if he is to find out what he is really made of. It's time! Good luck!

****** delivers yet again.

AA is way out of his depth on this level but home advantage will help.

Guzman TKO 10

Absloutley no chance.

This wouldn't even sell 10,000 tickets.

Happy for Arthur though, hopefully he can prove he's world class. Although, I think he'll definitely of bitten off more than he can chew with facing Guzman.

Arthur ain't a cash cow or at the very end of his career or threatening to leave him unless he gets a big fight - so yes in this respect '****** delivers again'.

Say what you like, he put a foot wrong recently.

He could have easily lost the purse bids if he chose, he obviosuly thinks AA had potential money wise.

ps

Thats the type of username that will backfire...

It'd be a shame if the Scots don't come to support a very good home fighter like AAA against an excellent fighter like Guzman in big numbers...you don't get many fights like this in Scotland. AAA will need all the crowd support he can get. If I lived in Scotland, I'd definitely go to see this fight.

Assuming Guzman comes over for the fight, I would see this as well if I lived in Scotland. Guzman will school AAA like JC did to Lacy. It will be a spectacle and I urge all UK boxing fans to see poetry in action.

Guzman will come if he has to...he doesn't have that many options, to be honest. He will be very motivated to impress because he is desperate for the Pacquiao v. JMM winner. It will be a beautiful fight.
