I want to say Pavlik was the better fighter in his prime, but Taylor has the names, and beating Hopkins twice, regardless of the close nature of the fights, is borderline a legendary feat, at least for this era.

Only ever bought myself to watch one Spinks fight, the one where he was knocked out by Judah. Not a big Alexander fan either. Taylor has the better resume for what it's worth, though I'd put a prime Pavlik a bit higher in a H2H sense. |

I guess this is about who's lost to better opponents.
Taylor lost to presumed killers at the time and laid out the blueprint for fighters like Froch to follow later in taking on nothing but the toughest opponents back to back to back w/o any filler thrown in. Props to JT on this. That being said, naturally Taylor has lost to better opponents and also beaten better opponents. Edge to Taylor. |

Let's put it this way: Taylor compiled a better resume than Pavlik (a very good resume actually) despite looking like crap in nearly all of his important fights.

I think Taylor's wins over Hopkins. Even if they were close. Puts him ahead of Pavlik.

Pavlik was beaten by Sergio Martinez and Bernard Hopkins. The version of Hopkins who beat Pavlik, despite being in his 40's would have given most fighters 168-175 a tough fight(throughout history, not just current). Will you honestly say a 168 Prime Benn or 168 Toney just walk through the 170 version of B-Hop who schooled Pavlik? That was a supreme version of B-Hop. Martinez was arguably in his prime against Pavlik and is a far better fighter than Abraham. Taylor didn't get 'laid out' by a line of killers like most short memory boxing fans would have you believe. Taylor lost to Pavlik,Froch and Abraham. That's it. 3 good fighters, but hardly the elite fighters Bernard and Martinez were/is. |

Taylor easily. Losses don't get you credit and Taylor's wins over:
Hopkins(x2) Spinks Ouma and the draw with Wright mean a lot more than Pavliks: Rubio Lockett Espino That shit is like the witness protection program. Complete ass. |

Kelly Pavlik won 4 rounds and dropped a prime Sergio Martinez.
The less you think of Pavlik, the less you value Sergio's best or second best ever win. |
